GB 2763-2026 is the English-translated version of 食品安全国家标准 食品中农药最大残留限量.

GB 2763 is the single most consulted food standard in China: it sets the maximum residue limits for pesticides in food, and every consignment entering or moving inside the country is judged against it. The document runs to thousands of limits, organised by pesticide and then by commodity, with the corresponding test method named for each, so that a laboratory result and a legal limit can be compared without argument. For an exporter it decides whether a shipment clears customs; for a food producer it decides which active substances can be used on which crop and at what pre-harvest interval; for a laboratory it fixes what has to be measured and to what level. The 2026 edition supersedes GB 2763-2021 and its amendments, and it is the version that governs from its implementation date. Anyone selling food into China, or testing it, works from this text.

This document specifies the maximum residue limits for 585 pesticides, including 2,4-DB, covering a total of 10749 items in food.

This document applies to the foods relevant to the limits.

Food categories and parts to be tested (Annex A) are used to define the scope of application of the pesticide maximum residue limits, and are applicable only to this document. When the maximum residue limits for a given pesticide applies to a food category, it applies to all foods within that category, unless otherwise specified.

The list of pesticides exempted from the establishment of MRLs in food (Annex B) is used to define the scope for which the maximum residue limits for pesticides in food need not be established.

3 Terms and definitions

For the purposes of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply.

3.1

residue definition

any specific substance that appears in food, agricultural products and animal feed due to the use of pesticideS), including pesticide derivatives considered to be of toxicological significance, such as pesticide transformation products, metabolites, reaction products and impurities

3.2

maximum residue limit (MRL)

legally permitted maximum concentration of pesticide residue in or on food or agricultural products, expressed in milligrams of pesticide residue per kilogram of food or agricultural product (mg/kg)

3.3

extraneous maximum residue limit (EMRL)

residue limit for some persistent pesticides that have been banned in food but remain in the environment for a long time and consequently re-form residues in food, established to control the contamination of food by such pesticide residues, expressed in milligrams of pesticide residue per kilogram of food or agricultural product (mg/kg)

3.4

acceptable daily intake (ADI)

estimate of the amount of a substance that can be ingested daily by human over a lifetime without causing a detectable health hazard, expressed as the amount ingestible per kilogram of body weight (mg/kg bw)

4 Technical requirements

4.1 2,4 -DB and 2,4 -D dichlorophenoxybutyric acid salt

4.1.1 Main use: Herbicide

4.1.2 ADI: 0.02 mg/kg bw

4.1.3 Residue definition: Sum of 2,4-DB and its free and conjugated forms, expressed as 2,4-DB.

4.1.4 Maximum residue limit: Shall comply with the provisions of Table 1.

4.1.5 Test method: For cereals, determine according to the method specified in SN/T 2228.

4.2 2,4-D butylate

4.2.1 Main use: Herbicide

4.2.2 ADI: 0.01 mg/kg bw

4.2.3 Residue definition: 2,4-D butylate

4.2.4 Maximum residue limit: Shall comply with the provisions of Table 2.

4.2.5 Test method: For cereals, determine according to the methods specified in GB/T 5009.165 and GB/T 5009.175; for oils and oilseeds, determine with reference to the method specified in GB/T 5009.165; for sugar crops, determine with reference to the method specified in GB/T 5009.175.

4.3 2,4-D dimethyl amine salt

4.3.1 Main use: Herbicide

4.3.2 ADI: 0.01 mg/kg bw

4.3.3 Residue definition: 2,4-D
