Scope

GB 8624-2025 is the English-translated version of 建筑材料及制品燃烧性能分级.

GB 8624-2025 is the Chinese national standard covering the fire classification of every building material in China - the A1, A2, B, C, D, E and F classes, the tests each is judged by, and the additional classifications for smoke production and flaming droplets. This is one of the most cited mandatory standards in the country: every facade, insulation, floor covering and interior finish specification refers to it, and the classes it defines are what a fire safety design is written in. It replaces GB 8624-2012 and takes effect on 1 January 2027. It was issued on 31 December 2025 and takes effect on 1 January 2027, replacing GB 8624-2012. The document is under the responsibility of the National Fire and Rescue Administration. 1 Scope

This document specifies the classification and grades of the burning behavior of building materials and products, the criteria for determining burning behavior grades, the application of classification results, classification description, mark, and report. This document applies to the classification and determination of the burning behavior of building materials and products, decorative materials and products, and non-metallic materials and products used in equipment and devices. The burning behavior classification of other materials and products shall use this document as a reference.
