GB/T 46106-2025 is the Chinese national standard covering wall panelling for interiors, whether solid wood, wood-based panel, wood-plastic or stone-plastic composite, or the inorganic bonded kind — the classification by substrate and by facing, the appearance limits on knots, cracks, delamination and blisters, the dimensions and surface hardness, the resistance to a temperature difference, the reaction to fire, and the formaldehyde and heavy metal release that decides whether it can go in a room. First edition, under the National Forestry and Grassland Administration. In force from 1 March 2026. Issued on 29 August 2025, it has been in force since 1 March 2026.

1 Scope
This document defines the terminology and definitions for interior decorative wood wall panels, and specifies the classification, requirements, inspection rules, marking, packaging, and transportation.
The requirements for storage and the corresponding testing methods are described.
This document applies to the production, inspection, and sale of interior decorative wooden wall panels.

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Interior wall paneling
Interior decorations made from solid wood, engineered wood, wood-plastic composite, stone-wood-plastic composite, etc., as base materials, and finished with decorative paper, decorative film, or coating.
3.2
Interior decorative wooden wall panels with impregnated paper as the surface finishing material.
3.3
Interior decorative wooden wall panels with surface finishing materials such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polypropylene (PP), or polyester film (PET).
3.4 Coated wood-based walboard
Interior decorative wooden wall panels with paint as the surface finishing material.
3.5
Interior decorative wooden wall panels that are digitally printed and coated with paint for surface finishing.
3.6
Interior decorative wooden wall panels using wood-plastic composite as the base material.
3.7 Interior decorative wooden wall panels made from composite materials
Using calcium carbonate powder, wood fiber, polyvinyl chloride or polypropylene and other polymer materials and additives as raw materials, and through foaming or non-foaming processes, etc.
3.8 Inorganic wood-based walboard
It is made by using inorganic cementitious materials as the main binding unit and wood fiber materials as the reinforcing unit, and is manufactured through molding, pressurization (or non-pressurization), and curing.

4 Classification
4.1 Classified by finishing material.
a) Decorative paper-faced wood wall panels;
b) Decorative film-faced wood wall panels;
c) Painted wood wall panels (including digitally printed wood wall panels). 4.2 Classified by substrate.
a) Solid wood wall panels (base material includes engineered wood);
b) Artificial board wall panels (substrate includes decorative veneer artificial board);
c) Wood-plastic composite wall panels (substrate includes foamed wood-plastic composite boards and non-foamed wood-plastic composite boards);
d) Stone-wood-plastic composite wall panels (base materials include foamed stone-wood-plastic composite boards and non-foamed stone-wood-plastic composite boards);
e) Inorganic wood wall panels.
5 Requirements
5.1 Appearance Quality
The appearance quality of the front of the interior decorative wooden wall panels should meet the requirements of Table 1.Defects on the back and edges should not affect the use of the wall panels.

Dried and wet flowers are not allowed. Paper tearing is not allowed Only applicable to decorative paper-faced wood wall panels Wrinkles and creases are not permitted; they are only applicable to decorative film-finished wood wall panels.
Dead joints, decay, and holes (including wormholes) are not permitted. Live knot Maximum single major diameter. Broadleaf wood <= 20mm; Coniferous wood <=10mm Semi-living knot, bark entrapment, resin canal, gum canal Maximum single major diameter <= 10mm, within any 1m2 panel.
No more than 4 locations; maximum single major diameter < 5mm is not considered.
Cracks, strip-shaped defects, and delamination are not allowed.
Suitable for solid wood wall panels and decorative veneer surfaces Artificial board wall panels Adhesive penetration is not allowed No gaps between seams are allowed Decorative veneer engineered wood wall panels The pattern is slightly misaligned.
Damaged patterns are not allowed.
Suitable for decorative paper-faced wood wall panels, digital products Spray-printed wood wall panels Wrinkles are not allowed No more than 3 pinholes with a diameter <=1mm are found within any 1m2 area of the board surface.
Within any 1m2 area of the board, the number of particles with a diameter <=0.5mm shall not exceed 3.
Applicable only to painted wood wall panels Other defects and damages do not affect the decorative effect and use.
Note 1."Slight" means that when the product is placed horizontally, it can be observed but is not significant with normal vision at a viewing distance of 0.5m.
Note 2.As agreed by both the supplier and the buyer, knots or other defects in this table are not considered appearance defects when they are considered as special decorative requirements.
