GB/T 9750-2025 is the English-translated version of 涂料和颜料产品包装、标志、运输和贮存通则.
GB/T 9750-2025 is the Chinese national standard covering getting paint and pigment out of the factory intact — the packaging site and the protective measures for the people who fill the containers, the inner and outer packaging materials that must not react with the contents, the labelling method, location, character size and required contents, the hazard labelling that applies when the product counts as a dangerous good, the transport of packages, and the storage. It replaces GB/T 9750-1998, under the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation. In force from 1 January 2026. Issued on 30 June 2025, it has been in force since 1 January 2026, replacing GB/T 9750-1998.

1 Scope
This document specifies the general rules for the packaging, labelling, transport and storage of coating material and pigment products.

3 Terms and Definitions
The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 4122.1, and the following are applicable to this document.
3.1 Inner package
The inner package primarily serves to protect the product and facilitate its use during distribution.
3.2 Inner receptacle
A receptacle that requires an outer package to function as a seal.
3.3 Outer package
The outer package that serves to protect the product and facilitate its transportation during distribution.
3.4 Net quantity
The quantity of the commodity that is contained in a prepackage with fixed content, excluding the packaging container and other packaging materials.
NOTE. neither the packaging materials of the commodity nor any other materials packaged with the commodity are included in the net quantity.

3.5 Packaging pictorial marking for handling of goods
During storage and transportation, to facilitate proper storage and handling, a simple, eye- catching graphic and text mark is placed on a designated location on the packaging in accordance with specified standards.
4 Packaging
4.1 Packaging Environment and Protective Measures
4.1.1 The floor of the site where coating materials and pigments are packaged shall be level, kept clean, and comply with the product’s relevant requirements for temperature and relative humidity.
4.1.2 Corresponding safety precautions and personal protective measures shall be in place, such
as gas masks, protective glasses, respirators and fire-fighting equipment, etc.
4.2 Coating Materials and Pigment Products
Before packaging, coating materials and pigment products shall be inspected and comply with the relevant regulations for the corresponding products.
4.3 Packaging Materials
4.3.1 The packaging materials for coating materials and pigment products shall ensure that the contents are protected from damage during normal storage and transportation, meet the relevant requirements, and meanwhile, comply with the requirements of the corresponding standards on packaging materials.
4.3.2 The packaging materials (single-layer package or inner package) that come into direct
contact with coating materials and pigment products shall be strong and durable, and shall not physically or chemically react with the contents to damage the product, swell, leak, or affect product quality. Acceptable packaging materials (single-layer package or inner package) include metal, plastic, composite materials, and paper materials.
4.3.3 The outer packaging materials of coating materials and pigment products shall be strong and durable to ensure that the contents are not damaged. Acceptable outer packaging materials include wood, metal, plastic, composite materials, paper materials, and textile materials, etc.
4.4 Packaging Requirements
4.4.1 Coating materials and pigment products shall be packaged in accordance with their
physical and chemical properties, and the entire package shall be sealed.
5 Labelling
5.1 Labelling Methods
The labelling on the packaging of coating materials and pigment products shall be clear and eye-catching. The following methods may be used.
a) Direct printing, such as iron-on printing or silk-screen printing;
b) Inkjet printing, such as printing of production date, batch No., inspector code, etc.;
c) Adhesive labels, such as pasting of paper printed labels or certificates of conformity.
5.2 Labelling Locations
5.2.1 For coating materials and pigment products classified as hazardous substances, the
labelling locations on the packaging shall comply with the relevant provisions of standards such as GB 15258 and GB 190.
5.2.2 For coating materials and pigment products not classified as hazardous substances, the
labelling locations on the packaging shall comply with the provisions of Table 1.
5.3 Labelling Characters
5.3.1 Typeface of labelling characters
The typeface of labelling characters is not specified; typefaces such as imitation Song-Dynasty- style and calligraphy are permitted.
5.3.2 Size of labelling characters
The minimum height of the net quantity characters in the labelling shall comply with the provisions of Table 2.

5.4.1.3 Outer package
In addition to the contents specified in items a) ~ c), e) ~ i) and k) of 5.4.1.2, the outer package of coating materials and pigment products shall also be marked with the following contents.
a) The total number of inner packages contained within the outer package;
b) The net quantity of each inner package;
c) The gross mass (gross weight) [kg (kilograms)] and overall dimensions [m (meters) or mm (millimeters)] of the outer package.
6 Transportation of Packages
6.1 Before transport, it shall be verified that the packages are complete, that the contents are not leaking or damaged, and that the seals are intact.
