HG/T 4842-2015 is a recommended chemical industry standard of China dealing with elastic emulsions for architectural coatings. It classifies the several types of elastic synthetic resin emulsion and lays down their requirements, test methods and inspection rules, along with marking, packaging and storage. The emulsions it covers are obtained by emulsion polymerization in water of monomers such as (meth)acrylic acid and its esters, styrene and vinyl acetate, and they act as the film-forming binder of elastic building coatings. Elastic latexes for other kinds of architectural coating, and for other waterborne coatings, may be assessed by reference to it. Among the documents called up are GB/T 528, GB/T 2794, GB/T 9268, GB 18582 and GB/T 23993. Issued on 14 July 2015, it has applied since 1 January 2016.
