Scope

GB/T 9268-2008 is the English-translated version of 乳胶漆耐冻融性的测定.

GB/T 9268-2008 is the Chinese national method for determining the freeze-thaw resistance of latex and emulsion paints, water-based paints made with a synthetic resin emulsion.

It gives two methods, A and B, B being the 1988 method. Its instruments are a freezer holding the test temperature within ± 2 °C, a Stormer paddle-rotor viscometer and black and white card stock with black reflectance less than 1 % and white reflectance (80 ± 2) %.

In method A the stirred sample fills two thirds of a closed 500 mL wide-mouth container, held at (-5 ± 2) °C for 18 h and then 6 h at (23 ± 2) °C as one cycle; the sample is then examined for lumps, coagulation and separation.

It replaces GB/T 9268-1988, was issued on 14 May 2008 and has applied since 1 October 2008.

Foreword

The standard method B corresponds to the standard American Society for Testing and Materials ASTMD2243:1995 (2003) "Standard Test Method for Water Freeze-thaw durability of the paint, "and ASTMD2243. Consistency level 1995 (2003) is not equivalent.

This standard replaces GB/T 9268-1988 "Determination of freeze-thaw durability of latex paint." The previous version of Standard GB/T 9268-1988 main technical differences are as follows.

--- Increased A method, which is a method of measuring the general paint industry is resistant to freezing and thawing;

--- The 1988 version of the standard method called B method, and the results of its assessment of the content made more detailed provisions. The standard proposed by China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association.

1 Scope

This standard specifies the determination of synthetic resin emulsion as the base material of the water-based paint, and subjected to freeze-thawed, its viscosity, anti-coagulation or anti-caking Have damaging other aspects of change and test methods for maintaining the original performance level.

This standard applies to the determination of the freeze-thaw durability paint.

2 Normative references

The following documents contain provisions which, through reference in this standard and become the standard terms. For dated references, subsequent Amendments (not including errata content) or revisions do not apply to this standard, however, encourage the parties to the agreement are based on research Whether the latest versions of these documents. 3 Instruments and Materials

3.1 freezer. a suitable case, its size should be able to accommodate a number of test samples, the inside temperature should be maintained at the desired temperature of the test ± 2 °C.

3.2 viscometer. Stormer with a paddle-type rotor (Stormer) viscometer.

3.3 Black and white card stock. black reflectance of less than 1%; white reflectance of (80 ± 2)%.

3.4 soft brush or a bar coater

4 Sampling

According to the provisions of GB/T 3186, and take representative samples of the test product.

5 Test procedure

5.1 A method

5.1.1 Sample Preparation

After loading the sample volume Stir clean large mouth glass bottles, plastic bottles with closures of 500mL or lining material Cans charged with an amount of 2/3 of the container, be covered with a lid.

5.1.2 Test procedure

The sample was placed in a freezer tank, freezer temperature is maintained at (-5 ± 2) °C. Sample tank wall or bottom of the box can not be contacted (the sample can be Jar on the shelf), at least a gap of 25mm between adjacent sample holder and the sample tank and the tank wall, in order to facilitate the air around the sample Free circulation of goods. Samples were placed in the freezer canister removed after 18h, then at (23 ± 2) °C conditions placed 6h, as a complete freeze Thaw cycles.

5.1.3 Inspection and evaluation of results

After a predetermined number of cycles the sample or agreed to open the container, stir the sample to observe whether the lumps, cohesion and separation. Such as No, "not degenerate" he said.

5.2 B Law

5.2.1 Sample Preparation

5.2.1.1 The sample Stir volume of 500mL clean charged with closures of large mouth glass bottles, plastic bottles or lined
