Scope
GB/T 9269-2009 is the English-translated version of 涂料黏度的测定 斯托默黏度计法.
GB/T 9269-2009 is the Chinese national method for measuring the viscosity of paints and related products with a Stormer viscometer. The viscosity is read from the load needed to turn a paddle rotor immersed in the coating at 200 r/min, and the result is given in Krebs units.
The standard is divided into method A, with a mechanical viscometer, and method B, with a digital-display viscometer, new in this edition; informative annex A lists the supplementary information a particular application needs.
For method A the apparatus is a Stormer viscometer with a strobe timer, a container of 500 mL and 85 mm diameter, a thermometer reading 0 °C to 50 °C in 0.1 °C, and weights from 5 g to 1000 g.
It replaces GB/T 9269-1988, was issued on 2 June 2009 and has applied since 1 February 2010.

Foreword
This standard replaces GB/T 9269-1988 "Determination of viscosity of architectural coatings Stormer viscometer." This standard compared with GB/T 9269-1988, the main technical differences are.
--- Expanding the scope of the standard, the standard name corresponding to "paint viscosity measurement Stormer viscometer Law";
--- This standard uses a different instrument into A method (mechanical viscometer method) and Method B (digital display viscometer method), where B law New method;
--- Original standard A and B method to the method step A and step B, classified as A law;
--- Increase the precision and bias of the measurement results of the requirements;
--- Increased the temperature deviation is corrected during the calibration requirements and test step process;
--- Added Appendix A (informative). Appendix A of this standard is an informative annex. The standard proposed by China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association.
1 Scope
This standard specifies the method for determination of the viscosity of the coating.
This standard applies to use Stormer viscometer viscosity paints and related products.
The standards are divided into A and B method method, A method for the mechanical viscometer method, B method several explicit viscometer method.

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this standard.
3.1 Viscosity
Generating 200r/min (Stormer viscometer) speed required load (g), results in KU values.
3.2 Krebs unit
A measure of value, usually used to indicate the construction method is by brush or roller coating viscosity.
NOTE: This function is to produce a measure of 200r/min speed required load.
Supplementary information needed 4 For any particular application, the test methods specified in this standard needs to improve with additional information. Contents of supplemental information in the appendix A listed.
Principle 5 Offset by a paddle-type rotor immersion coating to produce 200r/min speed of the load required to indicate the coating viscosity.
6 Mechanical viscometer method (A method)
6.1 Instrument
6.1.1 viscometer, Stormer viscometer with rotor blades, as shown in Figure 1, Figure 2. FIG additional strobe timer 1 can be removed In addition, if not this part of the instrument can also be used, but it will reduce the speed and accuracy. From the strobe timer can be seen directly produce 200r/min Fig.
6.1.2 vessel, a 500 mL capacity, a diameter of 85mm.
6.1.3 thermometer, measuring range is 0 °C ~ 50 °C, indexing is 0.1 °C.
6.1.4 stopwatch, timer or other suitable indexing of 0.2s.
