Scope

GB/T 21010-2017 is the English-translated version of 土地利用现状分类.

GB/T 21010-2017 sets out how land in China is classified by the way it is actually being used, and the codes that go with each class. It fixes the general rules of the classification, the coding method - two levels, each written with two Arabic numerals - and the full list of types, 12 primary classes and 73 secondary classes.

It defines coverage degree, canopy density and land use, and adds an appendix relating the classes to the three main categories of the Land Administration Law and a second one listing the classes that count as wetlands.

It is meant for land survey, planning, approval, supply, remediation, law enforcement, evaluation, statistics, registration and information management. It replaces GB/T 21010-2007, was issued on 1 November 2017 and has applied since 1 November 2017.
