This document replaces GB/T 3098.6-2014 "Mechanical properties of fasteners -

Stainless steel bolts, screws and studs". Compared with GB/T 3098.6-2014, in addition

to structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as

follows.

a) ADD duplex (austenite-ferrite) stainless steel with performance grades of 70, 80,

100 (see Figure 1);

b) ADD the austenitic stainless steel performance grade 100 and group A8 (see

Figure 1);

c) CHANGE the surface finishing (see 6.3; Chapter 4 of the 2014 edition);

d) ADD the stainless steel bolt and nut group matching (see 6.4);

e) ADD the minimum tensile load and minimum load calculation value when the

specified plastic elongation is 0.2%, as well as the principle of numerical

rounding (see Table 4 ~ Table 7);

f) ADD the fasteners with reduced bearing capacity due to head structure or rod

structure (see 8.2);

g) ADD the inspection procedure requirements and guidance (see 8.3 ~ 8.6);

h) ADD the applicability of full load capacity and reduced load capacity test methods

(see Chapter 8);

i) CHANGE the tensile strength test procedure (see 9.1; 7.2 of the 2014 edition);

ADD reduced load capacity test method (see 9.2 and 9.3);

j) CHANGE the wedge load test (see 9.4; 7.2 of the 2014 edition) and hardness test

(see 9.6; 7.2 of the 2014 edition);

k) CHANGE the marking and labeling; ADD the reduced load capacity fastener

marking method (see Chapter 10; Chapter 4 of the 2014 edition);

l) CHANGE the mechanical properties at high temperature and application at low

temperature (see Appendix A; Appendix F of the 2014 edition);

m) DELETE the common appendixes in the series of mechanical properties

standards for stainless steel fasteners (see Appendix B ~ Appendix E; Appendix

G, Appendix H of the 2014 edition).

This document modifies and adopts ISO 3506-1.2020 "Fasteners - Mechanical

properties of corrosion-resistant stainless steel fasteners - Part 1.Bolts, screws and studs

with specified grades and performance grades".

The technical differences between this document and ISO 3506-1.2020, as well as their

reasons, are as follows.

- USE the normative reference GB/T 3098.25 to replace ISO 3506-6, to adapt to

China's technical conditions (see 6.1);

- USE the normative reference GB/T 39310 to replace ISO 16228, to adapt to China's

technical conditions (see 8.6);

- USE the normative reference GB/T 16825.1 to replace ISO 7500-1, to adapt to

China's technical conditions (see 9.1.1);

- USE the normative reference GB/T 228.1 to replace ISO 6892-1, to adapt to China's

technical conditions (see 9.1.1, 9.1.2, 9.4.2);

- USE the normative reference GB/T 12160 to replace ISO 9513, to adapt to China's

technical conditions (see 9.1.3);

- USE the normative reference GB/T 230.1 to replace ISO 6508-1, to adapt to China's

technical conditions (see 9.6.2);

- USE the normative reference GB/T 231.1 to replace ISO 6506-1, to adapt to China's

technical conditions (see 9.6.2);

- USE the normative reference GB/T 4340.1 to replace ISO 6507-1, to adapt to

China's technical conditions (see 9.6.2);

- USE the normative reference GB/T 3099.4 to replace ISO 1891-4, to adapt to

China's technical conditions (see 10.4);

- DELETE the "soft" state of austenitic stainless steel performance grade 70 fasteners,

to conform to the actual state of austenitic stainless steel fasteners (see Figure 1).

The following editorial changes have been made to this document.

- CHANGE the name of the standard to "Mechanical properties of fasteners -

Stainless steel bolts, screws and studs";

- USE the Chinese document to replace the international documents of informative

reference;

- CHANGE that "Stainless steel group marking (Part 1) consists of one letter..." into

that. "Stainless steel group marking (Part 1) consists of one letter and one

number..." (see 5.2).

1 Scope

This document specifies the mechanical and physical properties of coarse and fine

thread bolts, screws and studs (hereinafter referred to as fasteners) made of corrosion-

resistant stainless steel, when tested at an ambient temperature of 10 °C ~ 35 °C. The

performance grades corresponding to the groups of austenitic, martensitic, ferritic,

duplex (austenitic-ferritic) stainless steel fasteners are specified.

2 Normative references

The contents of the following documents constitute the essential terms of this document

through normative references in the text. Among them, for dated references, only the

version corresponding to that date applies to this document; for undated references, the

latest version (including all amendments) applies to this document.

3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

Steel which has stainless steel and corrosion resistance as main characteristics, a

chromium (Cr) content of at least 10.5% (mass fraction) and carbon (C) content of

no more than 1.2% (mass fraction).

4 Symbols

The following symbols apply to this document.

5 Stainless steel group and performance grade marking system

The marking of performance grade (part 2) consists of 2 ~ 3 digits corresponding to

1/10 of the minimum tensile strength of the fastener specified in Table 2 or Table 3.

6 Materials

Unless otherwise specified, fasteners that meet this document shall be cleaned and

polished.

To prevent corrosion, bolts, screws and studs should be used with nuts and washers of

the same stainless steel group (e.g. A2 nuts and A2 bolts). Other combinations may be

used (e.g. A4 nuts and D4 bolts), provided that.

7 Mechanical and physical properties

Bolts, screws, studs of specified stainless steel groups and performance grades shall

comply with all applicable requirements specified in Tables 2 ~ 8, when tested in

accordance with the methods specified in Chapter 9, at ambient temperatures of 10 °C

~ 35 °C, either during the manufacturing process or at the time of final inspection of

the finished product.

8 Applicability of test methods and inspections

Standardized or non-standardized, full-load-bearing capacity stainless steel bolts,

screws or studs, when subjected to tension testing until fracture.

The buyer may control and/or test the delivered fasteners according to the test methods

specified in Chapter 9.
