Scope
GB/T 1413-2023 is the English-translated version of 系列1集装箱 分类、尺寸和额定质量.
GB/T 1413-2023 covers series 1 freight containers — the classification and designation of containers by their external dimensions, the dimensions themselves with their tolerances, the ratings that go with each class, and, for certain container types, the minimum internal and door opening dimensions. Three normative annexes carry the detail the body of the text cannot: the corner fittings, the load transfer areas in the base structure through which a loaded box passes its weight to whatever is carrying it, and the dimensions of the gooseneck tunnel that lets a container sit low on a chassis. The reason for fixing all of it is that a container is handled by equipment it never meets in advance. Spreaders, twistlocks, chassis and stacking arrangements are built to the box rather than the other way round, so an external dimension or a corner fitting out of place produces a container that cannot be lifted, locked or stacked, and a rating that is not declared on a common basis leaves the people planning stowage and lifting without the figure they work from. Of use to container builders and lessors, shipping lines and terminal operators, chassis and handling equipment makers, and the surveyors who inspect containers in service.

Foreword
This document was issued on 17 March 2023 by the State Administration for Market Regulation; Standardization Administration of the PRC and takes effect on 1 July 2023.
It is a GB/T standard: recommended rather than compulsory, but it is the text a Chinese reviewer applies when assessing a submission.
This document was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2020
"Directives for standardization - Part 1: Rules for the structure and drafting of
standardizing documents".
This document replaces GB/T 1413-2008 "Series 1 freight containers -- Classification,
dimensions and ratings". Compared with GB/T 1413-2008, in addition to structural
adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows:
a) Relevant content and specific technical data for containers with a nominal length
of 20 ft and a height of 2896 mm, i.e., 1CCC containers have been added (see
Chapter 4, Table 2, Table 3, Table A.1, Annex B of this Edition; Chapter 4, Table
2, Table 3, Table A.1, Annex B of Edition 2008);
b) The maximum rated mass of 1BBB, 1BB, 1B, 1BX, 1CC, 1C and 1CX containers
has been changed from 30480 kg to 36000 kg (see 5.2.2, Table 2 of this Edition;
5.2.2, Table 2 of Edition 2008);
c) The content of "gooseneck tunnels" has been changed (see 5.2.3 of this Edition;
5.2.3 of Edition 2008);
d) "General" has been added (see 5.3.2.1 of this Edition);
e) The content of "Minimum internal dimensions" has been changed (see 5.3.2.2 of
this Edition; 5.3.2.1 of Edition 2008);
f) The content of "Thermal containers" has been changed (see 5.3.3 of this Edition;
5.3.3 of Edition 2008);
g) The description of the gooseneck tunnel length has been changed to be divided
into 1EEE, 1EE type and non-1EEE, 1EE type (see Table C.1 of this Edition;
Table C.1 of Edition 2008).
This document is equivalent to ISO 668:2020 "Series 1 freight containers --
Classification, dimensions and ratings".

Series1 freight containers -- Classification, dimensions and
ratings
1 Scope
This document establishes a classification of series 1 freight containers based on
external dimensions, and specifies the associated ratings and, where appropriate, the
minimum internal and door opening dimensions for certain types of containers.
These containers are intended for intercontinental traffic.
This document summarizes the external and some of the internal dimensions of series
1 containers. The dimensions of each type of container are defined in the appropriate
part of ISO 1496, which is the authoritative document for internal container dimensions.
