Scope

GB/T 35549-2017 is the English-translated version of 无压干散货集装箱散货运输技术规范.

China's national technical specification for shipping dry bulk in non-pressurized bulk containers. These are the containers that carry granular and powdered cargo - grain, plastic pellets, minerals, sugar - loaded through hatches in the roof and discharged by tipping or by gravity through the door end. They exist because the alternative for such cargo is either bagging it, which adds handling and packaging cost, or shipping it in a bulk carrier, which only works between ports with the right terminals. A container carries bulk into the intermodal system, so a shipment can go from an inland loading point to an inland customer without ever being bagged or transhipped. Non-pressurized means it is discharged by gravity or tipping rather than by fluidising the cargo with compressed air, which is the arrangement used for cement and similar powders. The specification covers what the container must be capable of and how the cargo is loaded, secured and discharged safely, since a tipping container full of grain is a substantial mass moving.

1 Scope

This standard specifies the pressure-free bulk cargo container bulk cargo handling operations, transport operations and health requirements.
