Foreword

This document was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2020 Directives for standardization - Part 1: Rules for the structure and drafting of standardizing documents.

This document is Part 1 of GB 4053 Safety requirements for fixed metal ladders and platform. The following parts of GB 4053 have been published:

- Part 1: Vertical ladders;

- Part 2: Inclined ladders;

- Part 3: Industrial guard railings and platforms.

This document replaces GB 4053.1-2009 Safety requirements for fixed steel ladders and platforms - Part 1: Steel vertical ladders. Compared with GB 4053.1-2009, apart from structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows:

- the scope has been changed (see Clause 1; Clause 1 of the 2009 edition);

- the content on the setting of flight height and the provision of fall protection devices has been changed (see 4.2 and 4.3; 5.3 of the 2009 edition);

- the requirements for materials have been changed (see 4.4; 4.1 of the 2009 edition);

- the requirements for loads have been changed (see 4.5; 4.3 of the 2009 edition);

- the requirements for manufacture and installation have been changed (see 4.6; 4.4 of the 2009 edition);

- the requirements for corrosion protection have been changed (see 4.7; 4.5 of the 2009 edition);

- the content on the arrangement of flights and platforms has been changed (see 5.1; 5.3.3 of the 2009 edition);

- the requirements for the surrounding space have been changed (see 5.3; 5.2 of the 2009 edition);

- the requirements for the clear inside width have been changed (see 5.4; 5.4 of the 2009 edition);

- the requirements for rungs have been changed (see 5.5; 5.5 of the 2009 edition);

- the requirements for safety cages have been changed (see 6.1; 5.7 of the 2009 edition);

- requirements for fall arresters have been added (see 6.2);

- requirements for additional fall protection measures have been added (see 6.3);

- requirements for intermediate landing platforms, ladder access gates and self-closing gates have been added (see Clause 7);

- requirements for instructions for use and warning information have been added (see Clause 8).
