NB/T 32040-2017 is the recommended Chinese energy industry standard that governs the design of occupational safety and health provisions in photovoltaic power projects.

It deals with the measures built into the plant at design stage to protect the people who construct, operate and maintain it, rather than with the performance of the photovoltaic equipment.

It carries the Chinese classification P09 and the international classification 27.160. The national codes it quotes show the ground it covers: GB 2893 and GB 2894, GB 4053.1 to GB 4053.3, GB 5749, GB 50016 and GB 50229, GB 50054 and GB 50057. Issued on 15 November 2017, it has applied since 1 March 2018.
