Scope

GB/T 18514-2018 is the English-translated version of 人造板机械安全通则.

China's national general safety code for wood-based panel machinery. It specifies the terms and definitions for the mechanical safety of wood-based panel machinery, the categories and content of the hazards, the safety requirements and measures, the verification of those requirements and measures, and the information for use, and it applies to the design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of wood-based panel machines and of complete production lines. The hazards in a panel plant are unusual in their variety, which is why the sector needs a general code of its own rather than relying on the machine safety standards alone. There is the mechanical hazard of very large moving masses: a hot press closing with thousands of tonnes of force, a former running continuously, conveyors and transfer equipment that a person can be drawn into. There is the thermal hazard of platens and thermal oil systems at temperatures far above ignition point of the material being pressed. There is the chemical hazard of the resins - formaldehyde and isocyanate systems, the latter dangerous at concentrations below what can be smelled. There is the fire and explosion hazard, which is the one that defines the industry: wood dust in the dryers, the sanding lines and the extraction systems is an explosible dust, dryer fires are routine events rather than exceptional ones, and a sander dust explosion propagating through ductwork will destroy a plant. And there is the noise. The code sets out the hazard categories systematically, then the safety requirements and the protective measures to be designed in, then how conformity with them is verified, and finally what must be told to the user - because a machine that is safe as designed is only safe if the plant is operated and maintained as the designer assumed. Issued on 6 February 2018 and in force since 1 September 2018, it replaces GB/T 18514-2001.

Foreword

This standard is based on GB/T 1.1-2009 and GB/T 16755-2008 "Safety safety standards for the drafting and presentation of rules" to The drafting of the rules. This standard is a revision of GB/T 18514-2001 "General Rules for Safety of Wood-based Panels." This standard and GB/T 18514-2001 In addition to the editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows:

1 Scope

China's national general safety code for wood-based panel machinery. It specifies the terms and definitions for the mechanical safety of wood-based panel machinery, the categories and content of the hazards, the safety requirements and measures, the verification of those requirements and measures, and the information for use, and it applies to the design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of wood-based panel machines and of complete production lines. Issued on 6 February 2018 and in force since 1 September 2018, it replaces GB/T 18514-2001.

This standard specifies the terms and definitions of mechanical safety of wood-based panels, the categories and contents of hazards, safety requirements and/or measures, safety requirements, and/or Judgment and use information of measure or measure. This standard is applicable to the design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of complete sets of equipment for man-made board machinery and artificial board production lines.
