Scope

GB 15577-2018 is the English-translated version of 粉尘防爆安全规程.

GB 15577 is the code that governs dust explosion hazards in Chinese industry, and it is short for the weight it carries: the aluminium dust explosion at Kunshan in 2014 killed 146 people and this is the standard the enforcement that followed is built on. It covers the layout and construction of buildings where combustible dust is present, the prevention of dust cloud and dust layer fires, the control of explosions by venting, suppression and isolation, the design of the dust collection system, the housekeeping that keeps layers from accumulating, the precautions during maintenance, and personal protection. Issued on 19 November 2018, in force since 1 June 2019, replacing GB 15577-2007.
