1 Scope
This standard specifies the principles and requirements for the selection of personal protective equipment.
This standard applies to the selection of personal protective equipment for all production units and individuals.
2 Normative references
The provisions in following documents become the provisions of this Standard through reference in this Standard. For the dated references, the subsequent amendments (excluding corrections) or revisions do not apply to this Standard;
however, parties who reach an agreement based on this Standard are encouraged to study if the latest versions of these documents are applicable.
For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document applies.
GB/T 12903-2008 Personal protective equipment terminology
3 Terms and definitions
The terms and definitions as defined in GB/T 12903-2008 as well as the following terms and definitions apply to this standard.
3.1
Personal protective equipment (PPE)
The general term for all kinds of protective products worn, equipped and used by practitioners to protect hazards from physical, chemical, biological and other external factors.
Note: The labor protective products worn, equipped and used at the production site are also called personal protective equipment.
3.2
Protective properties tnw - Natural wet bulb temperature;
tg - Black ball temperature;
ta - Dry bulb temperature.
4 Operation category
4.1 According to the main hazard characteristics and working conditions in the
working environment, it is divided into 39 operation categories, as shown in
Table 1.

B06 Gas mask
Isolate the wearer's respiratory organs from the surrounding atmosphere, controlled by the lungs or use mechanical force to introduce clean air through the airway for human breathing
B07 Air respirator Prevent inhalation of harmful gases, fumes, harmful pollutants suspended in the air or use in the hypoxia environment
B08 Self-rescuer
It is small in size and light in portability; it can be used by miners in a short time. When an accident occurs in a coal mine, the miner wears it and can quickly leave the disaster area through a well filled with harmful gases
B09 Waterproof goggles Use in water to prevent water damage to eyes
B10 Anti-shock goggles Protect against eye damage caused by iron filings, sand, gravel and other objects
B11 Anti-microwave goggles Shield or attenuate microwave radiation to prevent microwave damage to the eyes
B12 Anti-radiation goggles Protection against eye damage caused by X, Y rays, electron flow and other ionizing radiation

Anti-glare, ultraviolet, infrared goggles or face shield
Prevent one or more of visible light, infrared and ultraviolet rays from harming eyes and face
B14 Laser goggles Attenuate or eliminate the harm of laser to human eyes by reflection, absorption, actinism, etc.
B15 Welding shield Protection against harmful factors such as harmful arcs, molten metal splash or dust, etc. to the eyes and face (including neck)
B16 Anti-corrosion liquid goggles
Protects against human eyes from splashes of corrosive chemical liquids such as acids and alkalis
B17 Sunglasses Block strong sunlight and ultraviolet rays, prevent dazzling light and dazzling light, improve visual clarity

Used by workers engaged in open flames, emitting sparks, operating near molten metal with radiant heat and convection heat, and in places with flammable materials and fire hazards. After contact with flames and hot objects, within a certain period of time, it can prevent itself from being ignited, flaming and smoldering
B54 Anti-static clothing It can eliminate the static electricity accumulation hazard in time and is used in places where electric shock, fire and explosion hazards may occur
B55 Welding protective clothing
Used in welding operations, to prevent workers from being exposed to molten metal splashes and their thermal damage
B56 White-canvas insulation suit Prevent damage from general thermal radiation
B57 Reflective-film coated thermal insulation suit Prevent contact with high-heat materials or intense heat radiation’s damage
