GB/T 37140-2018 is the English-translated version of 检验检测实验室技术要求验收规范.
China's national technical requirements and acceptance specification for inspection and testing laboratories. It specifies the terms and definitions, the general provisions, the location and layout, the evaluation and control of the main items, and the requirements on the architecture and structure. This is about the building rather than the management system: the accreditation standards say what a laboratory must do, and this says what the premises must be for those things to be possible. Location and layout come first because they are the decisions that cannot be corrected later - a vibration-sensitive instrument beside a road, a clean area downwind of a workshop, or a sample reception with no route to the laboratory that does not cross a corridor. The rest follows from what the work needs: separation of incompatible activities, control of temperature and humidity, services that do not fail, and the shielding, earthing and air handling that particular measurements require.

This standard specifies the acceptance specifications for the technical requirements of inspection and testing laboratories, including the general rules for design and construction acceptance, site selection and plane cloth. Bureau, building structure and decoration, water supply and drainage system, heating and ventilation and air conditioning, building electrical, gas pipeline, laboratory furniture, intelligent and Control, safety and protection, energy conservation and environmental protection, design review and use acceptance. This standard applies to the design and construction of inspection, testing laboratories for new construction, alteration and expansion, as well as the review of design documents by the construction party. Use acceptance. This standard does not apply to biosafety, animal and plant testing, purification and medical laboratories.
