Scope

GB/T 44394-2024 is the English-translated version of 化学品粉尘爆炸危害识别和防护指南.

GB/T 44394-2024 is the Chinese national standard covering the dust a chemical gives off and what it takes to keep it from exploding — the identification of dust flammability, the identification of the explosion hazard, the basic protective measures, the communication of the hazard and the risk, an appendix listing the ignition sources that turn up during operation, and the subsequent explosion, where the shock wave of the first lifts settled dust and feeds a second. Explosive and self-decomposing substances and mixtures are outside it, and are handled elsewhere. First edition, in force from 1 December 2024. Issued on 23 August 2024, it has been in force since 1 December 2024.

3.1 Combustible dust

Dust, fibers or flying catkins that can undergo violent oxidation reactions with gaseous oxidants (mainly air) under atmospheric conditions. [Source. GB 15577-2018, 3.1]

3.2 dust explosion

The flame propagates in the dust cloud, causing a significant jump in pressure and temperature.

[Source. GB/T 15604-2008, 2.11]

3.3 subsequent explosion

When a dust explosion occurs, the shock wave of the initial explosion will lift up the deposited dust that has not exploded, forming a dust cloud, which will be ignited and Continuous explosions occurred. [Source. GB 15577-2018, 3.8]
