Scope

GB/T 451.3-2026 is the English-translated version of 纸和纸板第3部分：厚度的测定.

Thickness is one of the basic physical properties of paper and board, and it feeds into calculations of other characteristics. This standard, Part 3 of the paper and board series, covers the determination of thickness. It is a recommended national standard.

Paper mills, converters, packaging manufacturers, printers, quality control laboratories and independent testing houses can use it to measure thickness in a uniform way. Buyers and suppliers who agree thickness values in purchase specifications will find a common method valuable when results need to be compared between sites.

The 2026 edition was issued on 25 May 2026 and takes effect on 1 December 2026. It replaces GB/T 451.3-2002, a much earlier edition, so laboratories should check whether their instruments and procedures still match the way the test is described before the new edition applies.

GB/T 451.3-2026 is a recommended national standard (GB/T) of the People's Republic of China, issued on 25 May 2026 by the State Administration for Market Regulation and the Standardization Administration of China, with effect from 1 December 2026.

This edition replaces GB/T 451.3-2002.

The document adopts an international standard (ISO or IEC).

It is under the responsibility of the China National Light Industry Council.
