Scope
QC/T 794-2020 is the English-translated version of 内燃机工业滤纸.
QC/T 794-2020 covers filter paper for the internal combustion engine industry, giving the terms and definitions, classification, requirements, test methods, inspection rules and the marking, packaging, transport and storage of the paper used in internal combustion engine filters.
It replaces QC/T 794-2007. Classification is by resin treatment into cured and non-cured, by filter medium into air, engine oil and fuel paper, by flame retardancy for air paper, by shape into corrugated and flat, and by functional layer into single-layer and multi-layer composite.
The manufacturer sets the nominal grammage in g/m2, with a limit deviation of plus or minus 5%; resin content is not less than 18% and ash content not more than 5%.
Stiffness retention after humidity treatment is not less than 30% for non-cured and 70% for cured air filter paper.
Flame retardant air filter paper must show an average after-flame time no greater than 5 s and an average carbonization length no greater than 115 mm; oil and fuel papers must keep a residual burst strength of at least 50% of nominal after immersion in the working medium.
Roll width tolerance is 5 parts per thousand of the specified size, the core inner diameter 76 mm, with no more than 2 joints per roll.
Testing includes curing at 160 degrees C plus or minus 10 degrees C for 15 min plus or minus 2 min and visual inspection at about 300 lx from 500 mm; three normative appendices cover corrugation thickness and depth, stiffness and resin content.

The test results are expressed as the average value of 5 specimens.
A.3.3 Determination of corrugation depth: Place the specimen on the measuring platform. The corrugation direction is perpendicular to the detection head (see Figure A.3). Put down the detection head. Read the value, which is the full corrugation height T of the specimen (see Figure A.4). Calculate the corrugation depth according to the thickness of corrugated paper and the overall corrugation height.
A.3.3.1 Corrugation depth is calculated, according to formula (A.1):
