Foreword

This document complies with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents".

Drafting.

This document replaces GB/T 4687-2007 "Paper, Paperboard, Pulp and Related Terminology". Compared with GB/T 4687-2007, the main differences are in the structural design.

Aside from integration and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows.

a) Added cellulose, nanomaterials, decolorization, degree of polymerization, elemental chlorine-free bleaching, Spanish straw pulp, fine fibers, fluff pulp, Hemicellulose, holocellulose, lignin, unbleached pulp, plant fiber, natural fiber, plant cellulose fiber, recycled pulp, recycled Eighteen pulping terms, including cellulose fiber and chlorine-free bleaching (see Chapter 3);

b) Two terms have been changed. "air-dried quantity" has been changed to "air-dried quality," and "bagasse pulp" has been changed to "bagasse pulp" (see Chapter 3).

Chapter 2 of the 2007 edition);

c) Added good pulp, impurities, edge frame, stock layer, headbox, streaking marks, flatbed varnishing and calendering machine, layers, reel, reprocessing.

18 papermaking terms including rubber watermark, sieve, paper sheet, smooth roll coating, pulp concentration, pulp screening, thickness calender, and pulp washing machine.

(See Chapter 4);

d) Three terms were changed. "white clay slurry" was changed to "kaolin clay slurry", "cutting" was changed to "slitting", and "forming" was changed to "forming".

Type (see Chapter 4, Chapter 3 of the 2007 edition);

e) Increased permeability, immediate sampling quantity, breakdown voltage, copper valence, dust content, edge permeation, edge permeation distance, edge permeation quality, and edge quality.

Quantity, electrical strength, filtration rate, filtration time, beating degree, ink absorbency, internal bond strength, oven-dry basis weight, potassium permanganate value, Bond strength, pore size, printed surface strength, puncture strength, water retention, moisture permeability, crease moisture permeability, fiber wet weight, whiteness, 27 terms related to the properties of pulp, paper, and paperboard (see Chapter 5);

f) Fifteen terms have been changed, including "chlorine consumption of pulp" to "chlorine consumption of pulp," and "temperature and humidity treatment" to "chlorine consumption of paper or paperboard." "Temperature and humidity treatment" and "dimensional changes" should be changed to "dimensional changes after immersion in water". "Edge compressive strength (short distance)" should be changed to "short distance compressive strength".

"Fiber slurry analysis" has been changed to "fiber composition analysis", "wet expansion" has been changed to "absorbed expansion rate", and "limiting viscosity value" has been changed to "specific viscosity".

The following changes were made. "viscosity value", "luminance reflectance factor" was changed to "luminance reflectance factor", "specular gloss" was changed to "specular gloss degree", and "elongation" was changed.

Change "Elongation at Break" to "Total Chlorine Content" to "Total Chlorine"; change "Finished Product Specifications" to "Dimensions of Paper After Trimming"; change "Unit" to...

"Packaging unit" and "untrimmed dimensions" should be changed to "original paper size," and "weight factor" should be changed to "quality factor" (see Chapter 5).

Chapter 4 of the 2007 edition.

This document is modified to adopt ISO 4046-1:2016 "Paper, paperboard, pulp and related terms – Part 1: Alphabetical index" and ISO 4046-2.

2016 "Paper, Paperboard, Pulp and Related Terms - Part 2: Pulping Terminology", ISO 4046-3:2016 "Paper, Paperboard, Pulp and Related Terms" the terms are. "Papermaking Terminology Part 3" and "Paper, Paperboard, Pulp and Related Terms Part 5: Properties of Pulp, Paper and Paperboard".

Quality terminology.

Compared with ISO 4046-1:2016, ISO 4046-2:2016, ISO 4046-3:2016 and ISO 4046-5:2016, this document has structural improvements.

There have been many adjustments. A comparison table of the structural numbering changes between this document and the above four documents is shown in Appendix A.

Technical differences between this document and ISO 4046-1:2016, ISO 4046-2:2016, ISO 4046-3:2016 and ISO 4046-5:2016 the reasons are as follows.

a) The scope has been revised to suit my country's technological conditions (see Chapter 1);

b) Normative references have been added to adapt to my country's technical conditions (see Chapter 2);

c) Added cellulose, nanomaterials, degree of polymerization, elemental chlorine-free bleaching, fine fibers, fluff pulp, hemicellulose, and hematoxylin.

Lignin, natural pulp, plant fiber, natural fiber, plant cellulose fiber, recycled pulp, regenerated cellulose fiber, all-natural Sixteen pulping terms, including chlorine bleaching, were introduced to adapt to the current situation of my country's papermaking industry (see Chapter 3).

d) Three new papermaking terms have been added. pulp concentration, pulp screening, and headbox, to reflect the current state of the papermaking industry (see Chapter 4);

e) Increased permeability, immediate dosage, breakdown voltage, lamination density, copper valence, critical wax rod strength grade (A), diffuse reflectance factor, and dust.

Edge quality, edge permeability, edge permeability distance, edge permeability quality, edge quality, electrical strength, flocculentization rate, filtration rate, filtration time, and spraying.

Slurry size, ink absorbency, internal bond strength, length-to-weight average fiber length, mass-to-weight average fiber length, and number average.

Fiber length, oil permeability, oven-dry basis weight, paper acidity, paper alkalinity, potassium permanganate value, bond strength, pore size, and printing surface strength.

Temperature, puncture strength, surface absorption rate, relative humidity, single-layer density, sizing degree, softness, surface strength (wax stick method), water retention A total of 41 terms for pulp, paper, and paperboard properties, including moisture permeability, crease moisture permeability, and fiber wet weight, have been introduced to adapt to the current situation of my country's papermaking industry.

(See Chapter 5);

f) The index language and the article numbers corresponding to the terms in the index have been modified to adapt to the current situation of my country's papermaking industry (see Chinese and English indexes).

(English and French index of ISO 4046-1:2016).

3 Pulping Terminology

air-dry mass

The quality of pulp when moisture is in equilibrium with the surrounding environment.

air-drypulp

Pulp when its moisture content is in equilibrium with the surrounding environment.

Note 1.See Commercial Specifications for Dryness (3.73), Dry Pulp (3.27) and Wet Pulp (3.77).

Note 2.The theoretical moisture content of the air-dried pulp agreed upon by both trading parties is called the commercially specified dryness.

bagassepulp

Pulp made from sugarcane stalks from which most of the sugar juice and medullary cells have been removed.

Bamboo pulp

Paper pulp made from bamboo stalks.

blackliquor

Waste liquid separated from the products after chemical pulping (usually referring to sulfate process or caustic soda process).

Chemithermomechanical pulp bleached to a high brightness [blue diffuse reflectance factor (5.41)] typically has an ISO brightness of not less than 70%.

bleached pulp

Bleached pulp.
