Scope
GB 14554-1993 is the English-translated version of 恶臭污染物排放标准.
GB 14554 is the standard that governs smell. It sets limits on eight odorous substances — ammonia, trimethylamine, hydrogen sulphide, methyl mercaptan, methyl sulphide, methyl disulphide, carbon disulphide and styrene — plus a limit on odour concentration itself as determined by a sensory panel, which is what makes it unusual: the compliance test is a human nose, not only an instrument. This document was issued on 19 July 1993 by the State Bureau of Technical Supervision, and took effect on 15 January 1994.
It replaces GBJ 4-1973, which is superseded.

It is a GB standard without the /T suffix: compliance is mandatory in China.
1 Scope
