Scope
GB 14925-2023 is the English-translated version of 实验动物 环境及设施.
GB 14925 sets the environment an animal facility must provide and the construction that delivers it. It fixes, for each grade of animal and each species, the temperature and humidity ranges, the air changes and pressure differentials, the airborne particle and ammonia limits, the noise, the illumination and the light cycle, then the requirements for the barrier, the layout and the finishes of the rooms, the water and bedding, and the monitoring that proves the conditions are held. Together with GB 14922 on microbiological grade and GB 14923 on genetic control it forms the trio that governs whether a Chinese facility may run animal experiments at all. Issued on 27 November 2023, in force since 1 June 2024, replacing GB 14925-2010. This page is published from the official record of the standard held by the Chinese standards administration: the identification, the dates, the classification and the edition it replaces are taken from there. The clause text, the tables and the numeric limits are not reproduced on this page - they are in the document itself, which is delivered in full in English translation.

Foreword
This document complies with the provisions of GB/T 1:1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents" Drafting: This document replaces GB 14925-2010 "Experimental Animal Environment and Facilities": Compared with GB 14925-2010, except for structural adjustment and compilation In addition to editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows:
a) Changed the definitions of "ordinary environment", "barrier environment" and "isolated environment" (see Chapter 3, Chapter 3 of the:2010 edition);
b) Added the terms and definitions of "general environmental facilities", "barrier environmental facilities", "isolation equipment", "static" and "dynamic" (see Chapter 3);
c) Changed the relevant definitions of cleanliness levels (see Chapter 3, Chapter 3 of the:2010 edition);
d) In the classification of experimental animal environments, the applicable animal level "ordinary level animals" has been added to the negative pressure barrier environment and negative pressure isolation environment (see Chapter 5);
e) The temperature, humidity, minimum working illumination and other indicators of the ordinary environment, barrier environment and isolation environment have been changed (see Chapter 6,:2010 version 5:2);
f) The main environmental indicators such as the minimum pressure difference, relative humidity, and cleanliness level of the auxiliary area of barrier environmental facilities have been changed (see 6:2:2, 2010 version of 5:2:3);
g) Added requirements related to process layout, fire protection, etc: (see Chapter 7, 8:6);
h) Added requirements for experimental animal facility construction, air conditioning, drinking water supply and drainage, electrical, automatic control, detection, operation and maintenance (see 8:1, 8:2, 8:3, 8:5, Chapter 11);
i) The requirements for the minimum living space required for commonly used experimental animals have been changed (see 8:7, 8:1:3 of the:2010 version);
j) Changed the wastewater treatment standards for experimental animal facilities (see 9:1, 7:1 of the:2010 version);
k) Changes to the transportation requirements for experimental animals (see 10:1, Chapter 9 of the:2010 edition);
l) Added content on animal welfare (see Chapter 4, 8:7);
m) The test conditions have been changed in the test method (see Appendix A~Appendix I, Appendix A~Appendix I of the:2010 version): Please note that some content in this document may be subject to patents: The publisher of this document assumes no responsibility for identifying patents: This document is proposed and managed by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China: The previous versions of this document and the documents it replaces are as follows:
