Scope
GB/T 6529-2008 is the English-translated version of 纺织品 调湿和试验用标准大气.
GB/T 6529-2008 is the Chinese national standard that fixes the atmosphere in which textiles are conditioned and tested: 20.0 °C and 65.0 % relative humidity, with a tolerance of ±2.0 °C and ±4.0 %. Textile fibres take up and give off moisture, and their strength, extension and dimensions change with it, so a laboratory result is only comparable if the specimen was conditioned and tested in a defined atmosphere - this standard is cited by nearly every Chinese textile test method. It also defines two alternative atmospheres that may be used by agreement between the parties: the standard specific atmosphere at 23.0 °C and 50.0 %, and the tropical atmosphere at 27.0 °C and 65.0 %. It specifies the requirements, the apparatus, the conditioning and testing procedure and the test report, with annexes on the control of the standard atmosphere, the tolerance zone and a relative humidity comparison table. Issued on 18 June 2008, it has applied since 1 March 2009 and replaces GB 6529-1986.

Foreword
This document was issued on 18 June 2008 by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China and the Standardization Administration of China, and has applied since 1 March 2009.
It replaces GB 6529-1986.
It is a GB/T standard: recommended rather than compulsory, but it is the text a Chinese reviewer, customer or inspection body applies.
1 Scope
This standard specifies the characteristics and use of a standard atmosphere for conditioning, for determining the physical and mechanical properties of textiles and a standard alternative atmosphere that maybe used if agreed between parties.
2 Terms and Definitions
For the purpose of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
2.1 Standard atmosphere: Environment of controlled relative humidity and temperature in which textiles are conditioned and tested.
2.2 Relative humidity: Ratio, expressed as a percentage, of the actual pressure of the water vapour in the atmosphere to the saturation vapour pressure at the same temperature and at the same pressure.
2.3 Tolerance: Difference between the upper and lower tolerance limits.
2.4 Tolerance zone: Variate values of the characteristics between and including the tolerance limits.
2.5 Tolerance limits: Specified values of the characteristic giving upper and/or lower bounds of the permissible value.
2.6 Uncertainty of measurement: Parameter, associated with the result of measurement, that characterizes the dispersion of the values that could reasonably be attributed to the measurand.
2.7 Resolution(of displaying device): Smallest difference between indications of displaying that can be meaningfully distinguished.
2.8 Rapid conditioning: A conditioning method to reach an identical counterbalance effect to textile in standard atmosphere and make the speed faster obviously than that in standard atmosphere.
3 Requirements
3.1 Standard atmosphere
Standard atmospheres shall have a temperature of 20.0°C and a relative humidity of 65.0%.
3.2 Standard alternative atmosphere
The alternative atmosphere may be used only if the parties involved agree on its use.
3.2.1 Standard specific atmosphere
Standard specific atmosphere shall have a temperature of 23.0°C and a relative humidity of 50.0%.
3.2.2 Standard tropical atmosphere
For tropical zone, standard atmosphere shall have a temperature of 27.0°C and a relative humidity of 65.0%.
3.3 Tolerance zone for the standard atmosphere and for the standard alternative atmosphere
The tolerance for temperature is ±2.0°C and the tolerance for relative humidity is ±4.0%.
Note: For control of standard atmospheres, see Annex A.
