Scope

GB/T 44675-2024 is the English-translated version of 地毯 泡沫背衬剥落性的测定.

GB/T 44675-2024 is the Chinese national standard covering the foam backing of a carpet and how readily it crumbles away — the reciprocating apparatus that rubs the specimen over a track of at least 100 mm, the hemispherical rod of (16 ± 1) mm wrapped in standard cotton cloth and the downward force of (9.0 ± 0.1) N, and the photographic standard in the annex against which the peeling grade is read, the grade that decides whether the backing holds. The method is not written for carpets already in service, where the backing may have parted through flex fatigue or ageing rather than through friability. First edition, under the China National Light Industry Council. In force from 1 May 2025. Issued on 26 October 2024, it has been in force since 1 May 2025.

Introduction

The carpet may be rolled up with the carpet face tucked in. However, this will expose the attached foam backing and make it easy to or installation process, which may cause the foam backing to fall off. In addition, carpets sold on display racks or similar When displaying the carpet in this way, people often use their fingers to apply heavy friction to the foam backing of the carpet. If the foam backing is damaged, they will think that the carpet is damaged.

Therefore, it is necessary to verify and evaluate the peeling properties of new, non-aged carpet foam backing.

Determination of the peeling properties of carpet foam backing

1 Scope

This document specifies the procedure for evaluating the flake resistance of carpet foam backings.

This document is not suitable for evaluating used carpets where the foam backing may have peeled off due to flex fatigue or aging.

It is caused by reasons such as chemical transformation.

3 Terms and Definitions

The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 26847 and the following apply to this document.

3.1 Friability

The ease with which it peels and breaks when pressure is applied.

4 Principles

Rub the carpet foam backing with a round rod with a hemispherical end wrapped with a standard cotton cloth. Use a photo standard (see Appendix A).

The foam backing was evaluated for peeling level.

5 Equipment and Materials

5.1 Suitable apparatus for abrading the test specimens.

5.1.1 The equipment is equipped with a reciprocating friction head that can form a friction track of not less than 100 mm in length on the specimen (e.g. GB/T 3920 Apparatus for wet and dry rubbing colour fastness as specified in.

5.1.2 The friction head (see Figure 1) is in the shape of a round rod with a diameter of (16 ± 1) mm. The end of the round rod is hemispherical. The hemispherical part is used for friction.

The downward pressure exerted by the friction head on the specimen is (9.0±0.1)N.
