Scope

GB/T 17421.1-2023 is the English-translated version of 机床检验通则 第1部分:在无负荷或准静态条件下机床的几何精度.

GB/T 17421.1-2023 is the first part of the Chinese machine tool test code and it covers geometric accuracy measured with the machine unloaded or quasi-static. It is the document every machine tool acceptance in China rests on, and it is the one that makes the acceptance meaningful: straightness, flatness, parallelism, squareness, coaxiality, rotational accuracy and the accuracy of positioning are all quantities whose measured value depends on how they are measured, on the datum chosen, the instrument used, where it is placed, how the machine was levelled and how long it was allowed to reach thermal equilibrium. This part fixes all of that. It sets the general conditions for the tests including the installation and the thermal state of the machine, the measuring instruments and their uncertainty, and then the definitions and the measurement methods for each geometric quantity, with the diagrams that show where the instrument goes, together with the way tolerances are expressed and the treatment of measurement uncertainty in deciding compliance. The 2023 edition replaces GB/T 17421.1-1998. For a machine tool builder, a buyer accepting a machine or a calibration laboratory in China, this is the reference.

a) Changed the scope of application of the document and specified the scope of inapplicability (see Chapter 1, Chapter 1 of the.1998 edition);

b) Added a chapter of "Normative Reference Documents" (see Chapter 2);

c) Added a "Terms and Definitions" chapter (see Chapter 3);

1 Scope

This document specifies the inspection methods for the geometric accuracy and working accuracy of machine tools under no-load or quasi-static conditions. These methods are also applicable Inspection of other types of industrial machinery. This document applies to power-driven machine tools that process metal, wood, etc., which remove workpiece material through cutting or produce plastic deformation. For machining, not suitable for power driven portable hand tools. This document only involves the geometric accuracy inspection of machine tools, and does not involve the operation inspection (such as vibration, component crawling, etc.) and parameter inspection (speed degree, feed amount). This document does not cover the geometric accuracy inspection of high-speed mechanical movements where the cutting force is usually less than the acceleration force.
