3 Terms and Definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1

A worktable equipped with a workpiece support or contouring fixture; the workpiece can be manually or mechanically fed via a mechanism mounted above the worktable.

A machine tool with a "C"-shaped body that performs milling operations on a workpiece using a tool spindle.

Note 1.Hereinafter referred to as "machine tool".

Note 2.The main components of the machine tool and their names are shown in Figure 1.

3.2 Manual feed;

Manual clamping and/or manual guiding of workpieces or machine tool components to facilitate machining with cutting tools.

Note. Manual feed includes using a manually operated workpiece support surface (the workpiece can be placed or clamped manually) and using a detachable power feed device.

3.3 Integrated feed

The power feed mechanism for the workpiece or tool is integrated with the machine tool, and the workpiece or tool components are mechanically clamped and guided during processing.
