NB/T 10521-2021 is the English-translated version of 现代化安全高效绿色露天煤矿建设技术要求.

NB/T 10521-2021 is the construction counterpart in the Chinese energy industry series on modern, safe, efficient and green open-pit coal mines, stating what has to be built and managed to reach that level.

Beyond terms and general requirements, its three main clauses cover safety, efficient production and green operation, with technical and management requirements drawing on standards for blasting safety, belt conveyor safety, electromagnetic compatibility testing, ambient air and water quality, wastewater and boiler emissions, coal mine gas emission and hazardous and solid waste control.

Environmental and occupational health and safety management systems to GB/T 24001 and GB/T 45001 are also referenced. It applies to operating open-pit coal mines, and mine design and construction may refer to it. Issued on 7 January 2021, it has applied since 1 April 2021.
