JB/T 3997-2011 is the English-translated version of 金属切削机床灰铸铁件 技术条件.
JB/T 3997-2011 is a recommended Chinese machinery industry standard for the grey iron castings used in metal cutting machine tools. It prescribes the technical requirements for these castings, the test methods, the inspection rules, and the marking and quality certificate that go with them.
Castings produced in sand moulds, or in moulds of equivalent thermal conductivity, come within its scope. For cast iron machine tool guideways its requirements apply on top of the special acceptance items set out in the relevant guideway cast iron specification.
Grey iron parts of modular and special purpose machine tools may be handled by reference to it. Among the standards it quotes are GB/T 223.4-2008, GB/T 231.1-2009, GB/T 6414-1999 and JB/T 7945-1999. It replaces JB/T 3997-1994.

JB/T 3997-2011 was issued by MIIT on 18 May 2011 and has been in force since 1 August 2011.
2 Scope
This standard is a recommended Chinese machinery industry standard for the grey iron castings used in metal cutting machine tools. It prescribes the technical requirements for these castings, the test methods, the inspection rules, and the marking and quality certificate that go with them. Castings produced in sand moulds, or in moulds of equivalent thermal conductivity, come within its scope. For cast iron machine tool guideways its requirements apply on top of the special acceptance items set out in the relevant guideway cast iron specification.
