Scope
GB 11607-1989 is the English-translated version of 渔业水质标准.
GB 11607-1989 sets the water quality standard for marine and fresh fishery waters, including spawning, feeding and wintering grounds, migration routes of fish and shrimps, and aquaculture and stock enhancement areas.
Table 1 fixes limits for 33 items: sensory and physical parameters such as colour, odour, floating matter, suspended solids, pH (6.5 to 8.5 in fresh water, 7.0 to 8.5 in seawater), dissolved oxygen, BOD and total coliforms, and maximum concentrations of heavy metals (mercury <= 0.000 5 mg/L, cadmium <= 0.005 mg/L), cyanide, sulfide, fluoride, non-ionic ammonia, phenols, petroleum and pesticides such as HCH, DDT, malathion and methyl parathion.
It also sets out obligations for dischargers to protect fishery waters, the roles of the fishery administration in implementation and in formulating local supplementary standards, and the analytical methods for each item, largely by reference to the GB water quality test methods; Annex A gives tables for converting total ammonia into non-ionic ammonia by temperature and pH.
Issued on 25 August 1989, in force from 1 March 1990. Classification: ICS 13.060, CCS Z51. The document runs to 6 pages, delivered complete in English translation.
