This Part is Part 10 of GB/T 5169.

This Part was drafted as per the rules specified in GB/T 1.1-2009.

This Part replaced GB/T 5169.10-2006 Fire Hazard Testing for Electric and Electronic

Products - Part 10.Glow/Hot-Wire Based Test Methods - Glow-Wire Apparatus and Common

Test Procedure. Compared with GB/T 5169.10-2006, the major technical changes of this Part

are as follows.

--- Move the content of "Summary of Test Equipment and General Test Methods" to the

Scope (see Clause 1 of this Edition; Clause 4 of 2006 Edition);

--- Add some terms and definitions (see Clause 3 of this Edition);

--- Add provisions for new glow wire annealing treatment (see 4.1 of this Edition; 5.1 of

2006 Edition);

--- Revise the description of the provisions of the test chamber (see 4.5 of this Edition; 5.4

of 2006 Edition);

--- Increase requirements for timing devices (see 4.6 of this Edition);

--- Revise the standard for replacing the glow wire; CHANGE FROM when the Dimension-

A "reduces to 90% of the initial reading", it shall be replaced TO. when it "reduces to

97.5% of the reading before the initial test" (see 5.1 of this Edition; 6.1 of 2006 Edition);

--- Add Annex A "Equipment Manufacturers and Suppliers " (see Annex A of this Edition);

--- Add Annex B "Guidance on 'Ignition' and 'Flaming' Observations" (see Annex B of this

Edition);

--- Add Annex C "Guidance on the Verification Procedure of the Glow-Wire Temperature

Measuring System by the Heating Current" (see Annex C of this Edition).

This Part used translation method to equivalently adopt IEC 60695-2-10.2013 Fire Hazard

Testing - Part 2-10.Glowing/Hot-Wire Based Test Methods - Glow-Wire Apparatus and

Common Test Procedure.

The Chinese documents that have a consistent correspondence with the international documents

3 Terms and Definitions

For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in ISO 13943.2008, some

of which are reproduced below for the user's convenience, as well as the following apply.

Test that measures behavior of a fire or exposes an item to the effects of a fire.

4 Description of the Test Apparatus

The temperature of the tip of the glow-wire shall be measured by a class 1 (see IEC 60584-2)

mineral-insulated metal-sheathed fine-wire thermocouple with an insulated junction.

The apparatus shall be operated in a draught-free environment having sufficient volume such

that.

5 Verification of the Apparatus

The temperature measuring system described in 4.3 shall be verified periodically using the

procedure described below.

6 Conditioning

Before testing, the wooden board and wrapping tissue shall be stored for a minimum of 24 h in

an atmosphere having a temperature between 15 °C and 35 °C and a relative humidity between

45 % and 75 %.

7 Common Test Procedure

The tip of the glow-wire is then brought smoothly into contact with the test specimen for a

duration of 30 s +/- 1 s. An approximate rate of approach and withdrawal of 10 mm/s to 25 mm/s

has been found to be satisfactory. However, the rate of approach shall be reduced to near zero

upon contact to avoid impact forces exceeding 1.05 N.
