Scope

GB 12268-2025 is the English-translated version of 危险货物品名表.

China's mandatory national list of dangerous goods. It is the reference that decides, for every substance moved in China, whether it is dangerous in law and what it is: the UN number, the proper shipping name, the hazard class and division, the packing group and the special provisions. Everything downstream depends on that entry - the packaging permitted, the labels and placards, the documentation, the vehicle and its driver's qualification, the segregation from other goods in the same load, and what the emergency services are told when something goes wrong. The list is aligned with the UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, which is what allows a consignment to cross a border without being reclassified. A substance absent from the list is not thereby safe: the standard also gives the criteria by which an unlisted substance is classified.
