Scope

GB/T 18952-2017 is the English-translated version of 橡胶配合剂 硫磺及试验方法.

GB/T 18952-2017 covers sulfur used as a compounding ingredient in rubber, in both its soluble and its insoluble form.

It sets out the classification of rubber sulfur by its solubility in carbon disulfide, the model designations and marking, the technical requirements and the test methods, together with inspection rules, marking, packaging, transport, storage and safety provisions.

The methods include loss on heating, ash, sieve residue, total sulfur, the oil content of oil-treated sulfur and the thermal stability of insoluble sulfur, and an annex gives the requirements for the heavy white oil used.

It applies to soluble sulfur made from industrial sulfur and to insoluble sulfur produced from it by heating and quenching. Producers and rubber compounders use it for quality control and acceptance.

It replaces GB/T 18952-2003, was issued on 29 December 2017 and has applied since 1 July 2018.

Foreword

This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.

This standard replaces GB/T 18952-2003 "rubber compounding sulfur test method." This standard and GB/T 18952-2003 In addition to editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows.

--- Modify the scope (see Chapter 1, 2003 edition Chapter 1);

--- Added classification, model and marking terms (see Chapter 3);

--- Added 14 types of sulfur technical requirements (see Table 1, Table 2, Table 3);

--- Modify the test method of heating reduction (see 5.3, 2003 edition 4.7);

--- Modify the test method of ash (see 5.4, 2003 version 4.8);

--- Modify the sieve residue test method (see 5.5, 2003 edition of 4.2);

--- Modify the total sulfur content of the test method (see 5.7, 2003 version 4.1);

--- Modify the oil content of oil-filled sulfur test method (see 5.9, 2003 Edition 4.3);

--- Increasing the thermal stability of insoluble sulfur test method (see 5.10);

--- Added heavy white oil technical requirements (see Appendix A);

--- Removed the test method of insoluble sulfur rebens (see 2003 version 4.5);

--- Removed the test method of arsenic content (see 2003 version 4.9);

--- Added inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation, storage and safety provisions (see Chapter 7, Chapter 8).

1 Scope
