Foreword
This Standard is drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This Standard replaces GB/T 706-2008 “Hot rolled section steel”. Compared with GB/T 706-2008, main technical changes of this Standard are as follows:
- DELETE relevant contents of hot rolled L-shape section steels (see Table 3, Table
- ADD order contents (see Clause 3);
- ADJUST parts of dimension, shape and allowable deviation (see Table 1 and Table
2 of this Standard, Table 1 and Table 2 of 2008 edition);
- ADJUST the requirements for the allowable deviation of weight (see 4.4 of this
- ADD the representing method for specification (see 4.5);
characteristics (see Table A.1, Table A.2, Table A.3 and Table A.4).
This Standard is proposed by China Iron and Steel Industry Association.
This Standard is under the jurisdiction of National Technical Committee on Steel of Standardization Administration of China (SCA/TC 183).

The previous version of the standard replaced by this Standard are as follows:
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the order contents, dimension, shape, weight and allowable deviation, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, packaging, marking and quality certificate of hot rolled I-beam steels, hot rolled channel steels, hot rolled equal angle steels and hot rolled unequal angle steels.
This Standard applies to hot rolled equal angle steels, hot rolled unequal angle steels and hot rolled I-beam steels and hot rolled channel steels with a slope on the inside of the leg (hereinafter referred to as section steels).
2 Normative references
The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document. For dated references, only the dated edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including all amendments) applies.
3 Order contents
The contract ordered in accordance with this Standard shall contain the following technical contents:
g) other special requirements of the demand party.
4 Dimension, shape, weight and allowable deviation
4.1 Dimension and representing method
4.1.1 Schematic diagrams and marked symbols of cross-section of section steels are as shown in Figure 1 to Figure 4.
4.1.2 Parameters of cross-sectional dimension, cross-sectional area, theoretical
weight and cross-section characteristics of section steels shall comply with the specifications of Tables A.1 to A.4 of Annex A.
4.2 Dimension, shape and allowable deviation
4.2.1 Dimension, shape and allowable deviation of section steels shall comply with the specifications of Table 1 to Table 2. According to the requirements of the demand party, dimension, shape and allowable deviation of section steels can also be specified in accordance with the agreement between supply and demand parties.
