GB/T 33745-2025 is the English-translated version of 物联网 术语.

GB/T 33745-2025 is the Chinese national standard covering the words used in Chinese IoT standards, and what they are now agreed to mean — the general concepts from entity and physical entity through sensing, actuation and control to the IoT gateway, edge computing and the passive, satellite and trusted variants, the reference architecture terms of view, viewpoint and stakeholder, the security terms, and the identification terms of identifier, identifier resolution and identity registration. It replaces GB/T 33745-2017, which carried a family of reference-model terms this edition drops. With the crowd-sensing architecture standard GB/T 45728-2025. In force from 1 December 2025. Issued on 30 May 2025, it has been in force since 1 December 2025, replacing GB/T 33745-2017.

Foreword

This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for standardization work Part 1: Structure and drafting rules for standardization documents" Drafting.

This document replaces GB/T 33745-2017 "Internet of Things Terminology". Compared with GB/T 33745-2017, except for structural adjustments and editing In addition to the changes in performance, the main technical changes are as follows.

a) Added the terms “IoT system, digital entity, virtual entity, execution, control, IoT gateway, edge computing, passive IoT” Internet of Things, Satellite Internet of Things, Trusted Internet of Things, Sensor Network, View, Perspective, Stakeholder, Point of Interest, Identity Registration" and its definition Meaning (see 3.1.2, 3.1.6, 3.1.7, 3.1.10, 3.1.11, 3.1.12, 3.1.13, 3.1.14, 3.1.15, 3.1.16, 3.1.17, 3.2.3, 3.2.4, 3.2.5, 3.2.6, 3.4.3);

b) Changed the terms “Internet of Things, Entity, Physical Entity, User, Perception, Domain, Internet of Things Reference Architecture, Internet of Things Security Management, Identity” Definitions of the terms "identifier, identifier resolution" (see 3.1.1, 3.1.4, 3.1.5, 3.1.8, 3.1.9, 3.2.1, 3.2.2, 3.3.2, 3.4.2, 3.4.4, 2.1.1, 2.1.2, 2.1.3, 2.1.7, 2.1.8, 2.2.1, 2.2.5, 2.3.2, 2.4.2, 2.4.3 of the 2017 edition);

This document defines common terms and definitions in the field of Internet of Things.

This document is applicable to the understanding of concepts and information exchange in the field of Internet of Things, as well as scientific research, teaching and application.

3 Terms and definitions

3.1 General Concepts

3.1.1 Internet of things; IoT

Based on sensing and control devices, physical entities (3.1.5), people, systems and information resources are connected through communication networks to respond to and process objects.

The infrastructure for physical and virtual world information.

3.1.2 IoT system

Systems that provide Internet of Things (3.1.1) functionality.

Note. The IoT system generally includes IoT gateways, sensors, actuators, etc.

3.1.3 IoTapplication

Examples of how the Internet of Things (3.1.1) is used in specific scenarios.

Examples. smart home, smart grid, smart healthcare, etc.

3.1.4 entity

Concrete or abstract things that exist objectively.

Note. Entities are generally divided into physical entities and digital entities.

3.1.5 physical entity

3.1.6 digital entity

Entities that exist in the digital realm (3.1.4).
