Foreword
This Standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB/T 317-2006 "White granulated sugar". Except for
editorial modification, the main technical differences of this standard in
comparison with GB/T 317-2006 are as follows.
- Added black spot requirements (see 3.2.3);
- Modified food safety requirements (see 3.4, 2006 edition 3.4);
- Added requirements for raw materials (see 3.5);
- Modified test methods of sensory items, physical and chemical items (see
chapter 4, 2006 edition, chapter 4);
- Modified the rules of inspection (see chapter 5, 2006 edition, chapter 5).
This standard is prepared by the redrafting method with reference to the Codex
Stan 212-1999 "Codex standard for sugars" by the International Codex
Alimentarius Commission, and the consistency with Codex Stan 212-1999 is
non-equivalent.
This standard is proposed by China National Light Industry Council.
This standard shall be under the jurisdiction of the National Sugar
Standardization Technical Committee (SAC/ TC 373).

White granulated sugar
1 Scope
This standard specifies the technical requirements, test methods, inspection
rules and marking, packaging, transportation and storage of white granulated
sugar.
This standard is applicable to white granulated sugar produced directly or
indirectly from sugarcane, sugar beet or raw sugar.

3 Technical requirements
3.1 Grade
White granulated sugar is divided into four grades. refined, superior, first and
second.
3.2 Sensory
3.2.1 The grain shall be uniform, and the grain size shall not be less than 80%
within a certain range below.
3.3 Physical and chemical requirements
The specifications of table 1 shall be complied with.
3.6 Quantitative packaging requirements
The net content shall conform to the requirements in the "Measures for
metrological supervision and administration of quantitative packaging
commodities".
4 Test methods
4.1 Sensory items
Color, taste, smell and state shall be determined by the method specified in GB
13104; particle size and black spot shall be determined by the method specified
in GB/T 35887.
4.3 Food safety requirements
It shall be determined by the method specified in GB 13104.
4.4 Net content
It shall be determined by the method specified in JJF 1070.
5 Rules of inspection
5.1 Type inspection
5.1.1 Each separated sugar paste uses one number. When weighing and
packing, continuously collect the sample about 3 kg; place it in a capped
container. Mix the sample evenly and give it one number. In addition to the
sample for numbering analysis, take another 0.5kg and place it in a capped
container, which is to be used after 24 hours as daily collection sample.
5.1.2 On the premise that the product quality is stable, the factory can conduct
spot check on each number of samples according to the actual conditions of
production. The test items include. sucrose, reducing sugar, conductance ash,
dry weight loss, color value, turbidity and insoluble water impurity.
5.1.3 Under any of the following circumstances, the test of all technical
requirements shall be carried out; the results of the test shall be taken as a
comprehensive assessment of the quality of the product.
5.2 Settlement inspection
5.2.1 Each delivery of white granulated sugar shall be a batch of settlement.
Each batch of white sugar shall be accompanied by a factory qualification report,
and the recipient shall receive on the basis of the qualification report. Both
parties of the settlement shall have the right to propose spot inspection or
sample sealing. In the event of any future quality dispute, the sealed samples
which meet the storage conditions shall be used as the arbitration inspection
samples. The inspection result issued by the statutory quality arbitration
organization shall be the arbitration result of that batch of white granulated
sugar.
5.3 Determination rules
5.3.1 If there is one of the specifications not qualified in the test results, the
product is deemed as unqualified product.
6 Marking, packaging, transportation, storage
6.1 Marking
6.1.1 Pre-packaged white granulated sugar labels shall comply with the
requirements in GB 7718.
6.2 Packaging
6.2.1 Packaging containers and materials shall comply with corresponding
hygiene standards and relevant regulations.
6.2.2 Product packaging shall be tightly sealed with no damage.
6.2.3 The outer packing box shall be intact, firm, clean, suitable to the contents,
and strongly sealed by tapes or strapped.
6.2.4 When each batch of sugar leaves the factory, the factory shall provide a
product inspection report and an instruction of transportation and storage along
with the product.
