Scope
GB/T 5832.3-2025 is the English-translated version of 气体分析 气体中微量水分的测定 第3部分:光腔衰荡光谱法.
GB/T 5832.3-2025 is the Chinese national method for determining trace moisture in gases by cavity ring-down spectroscopy. It is Part 3 of GB/T 5832, whose other parts use electrolysis, the dew point method and quartz crystal oscillation.
It covers the principle, the experimental conditions, the reagents and materials, the instruments and equipment, sampling, the test procedure, the processing of the test data, precision, quality assurance and control, and the test report.
It applies to trace and ultra-trace moisture from 1.0 x 10^-9 to 20 x 10^-6 mole fraction, and not to gases that damage the glass mirrors, such as hydrogen fluoride and fluorine, nor to gases whose absorption interferes with that of water, such as silane, methane and germane.
It replaces GB/T 5832.3-2011, was issued on 5 October 2025 and has applied since 1 May 2026.

Introduction
Moisture content is an important technical indicator for gases. To better meet the industry's requirements for the determination of trace moisture in gases, it is necessary to develop a complete system. Good series of analytical method standards.
GB/T 5832 aims to standardize the determination of trace moisture in gases and is proposed to be divided into the following four parts.
---Part 1: Electrolysis. The aim is to provide a test method for determining trace moisture in gases based on electrolysis.
---Part 2: Dew Point Method. The purpose is to provide a test method for determining trace moisture in gases based on dew point.
---Part 3: Cavity Ring-Off Spectroscopy. The aim is to provide an experimental method for determining trace moisture in gases based on cavity ring-off spectroscopy. method.
---Part 4: Quartz Crystal Oscillation Method. The aim is to provide an experimental method for determining trace moisture in gases based on quartz crystal oscillation. method.
