GB/T 16942-2025 is the English-translated version of 电子气体 大宗气体.

GB/T 16942-2025 is the Chinese national standard covering the bulk gases that feed a semiconductor fab — hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, argon and helium, their purity grades and the trace impurities that define them, the sampling from cylinders and cylinder clusters, the gas chromatography and the moisture determination, the exhaust gas treatment, and the inspection rules and cylinder marking, because purity here is calculated by subtracting the impurities rather than measured directly. It replaces GB/T 16942-2009, which covered hydrogen alone; the five separate electronic gas standards have been merged into this one document. In force from 1 February 2026. Issued on 1 August 2025, it has been in force since 1 February 2026, replacing GB/T 16942-2009.

Foreword

This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for standardization work Part 1: Structure and drafting rules for standardization documents" Drafting.

This document replaces GB/T 16942-2009 "Gas Hydrogen for Electronics Industry", GB/T 14604-2009 "Gas Oxygen for Electronics Industry", GB/T 16945-2009 "Gas Argon for Electronics Industry", GB/T 16944-2009 "Gas Nitrogen for Electronics Industry", GB/T 16943- 2009 "Helium Gas for Electronics Industry", GB/T 16942-2009, GB/T 14604-2009, GB/T 16945-2009, Compared with GB/T 16943-2009, GB/T 16944-2009 has the following major technical changes, in addition to structural adjustments and editorial changes.

— Changed the scope (see Chapter 1, Chapter 1 of GB/T 16942-2009, Chapter 1 of GB/T 14604-2009, Chapter 1 of GB/T 16945-2009, Chapter 1 of GB/T 16944-2009, and Chapter 1 of GB/T 16943-2009);

— Added "Terms and Definitions" (see Chapter 3);

— Changed the technical requirements for bulk gases (see Chapter 4, Chapter 3 of GB/T 16942-2009, Chapter 4 of GB/T 14604-2009 Chapter 3, Chapter 3 of GB/T 16945-2009, Chapter 3 of GB/T 16944-2009, Chapter 3 of GB/T 16943-2009 Chapter 3);

— Added the method for determining the content of neon, hydrogen and argon in helium (see 6.7);

— Deleted the requirements for gas standard samples (GB/T 16942-2009 4.6, GB/T 14604-2009 4.7, 4.5 of GB/T 16945-2009, 4.5 of GB/T 16944-2009, 4.5 of GB/T 16943-2009);

— Changed the determination method of moisture content (see 6.9, 4.7 of GB/T 16942-2009, 4.8 of GB/T 14604-2009, 4.6 of GB/T 16945-2009, 4.6 of GB/T 16944-2009, 4.6 of GB/T 16943-2009);

— Deleted the volume calculation method of helium at 20 ° C and 101.3 kPa (see Chapter 6 of GB/T 16943-2009);

— Added requirements for exhaust gas treatment (see 6.10);

— Changed the inspection rules (see Chapter 7, 4.1 of GB/T 16942-2009, 4.1 of GB/T 14604-2009, GB/T 16945-2009, 4.1, GB/T 16944-2009, 4.1, GB/T 16943-2009);
