Scope

GB/T 3863-2025 is the English-translated version of 工业氧.

GB/T 3863-2025 is the Chinese national standard covering oxygen produced by air separation or by water electrolysis, gaseous and liquid — the purity grades and the limits on moisture and methane, the requirement for oxygen held in storage tanks, the batching and the sampling, the determination methods, the exhaust gas treatment, the inspection rules, the marking, labelling and accompanying documents, and the safety information for a gas in whose presence ordinary grease will burn. It replaces GB/T 3863-2008, with the industrial nitrogen standard GB/T 3864-2025. Under the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation. In force from 1 February 2026. Issued on 1 August 2025, it has been in force since 1 February 2026, replacing GB/T 3863-2008.

Foreword

This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for standardization work Part 1: Structure and drafting rules for standardization documents" Drafting.

This document replaces GB/T 3863-2008 Industrial Oxygen. Compared with GB/T 3863-2008, except for structural adjustments and editorial changes, In addition, the main technical changes are as follows.

— Deleted the content related to the use, molecular formula and relative molecular mass of industrial oxygen in the scope (see Chapter 1, 2008 edition Chapter 1);

— Added a chapter on "Terms and Definitions" (see Chapter 3);

— Deleted the requirement for 99.2% purity industrial oxygen, added the requirement for industrial oxygen in storage tanks, and changed the limit requirement for moisture content (See Chapter 4, Chapter 3 of the 2008 edition);

— Added the requirements for industrial oxygen batching (see 5.1);

— Changed the requirements for industrial oxygen sampling and sampling safety (see 5.2, 4.1.2 of the 2008 edition);

— Changed the requirements for industrial oxygen sampling (see 5.3, 4.1.3 and 4.1.4 of the 2008 edition);

— Changed the method for determining oxygen content (see 6.1, 4.2 of the 2008 edition);

— Added the determination method of methane content (see 6.2);

— Changed the method for determining moisture content (see 6.3, 4.3 of the 2008 edition);

— Added requirements for exhaust gas treatment (see 6.4);

— Changed the requirements of the inspection rules and added provisions for numerical rounding (see Chapter 7, 4.1 of the 2008 edition);

— Changed the marking requirements (see 8.1, Chapter 5 of the 2008 edition);

— Changed the labeling requirements and added normative references (see 8.2, 5.12 of the 2008 edition);

— Added accompanying document requirements (see 8.3);

— Changed the provisions on packaging, filling, transportation and storage (see Chapter 9, Chapter 5 of the 2008 edition);

— Added safety information for oxygen (see Chapter 10).

This document specifies the technical requirements for industrial oxygen as well as batching, sampling, testing methods, inspection rules, marking, labeling, accompanying documents, It also describes the requirements for packaging, filling, transportation and storage, and provides relevant test methods and safety information for industrial oxygen.

This document applies to gaseous and liquid industrial oxygen produced by separation from air and by water electrolysis.
