Scope
GB 31975-2025 is the English-translated version of 呼吸防护 压缩空气技术要求.
GB 31975-2025 specifies the technical requirements for compressed air used for respiratory protection and describes the associated test methods, sampling and on-site testing; it applies to compressed air for respiratory protective equipment, but not to medical compressed air or to compressed air for diving and aviation breathing apparatus.
The requirements cover oxygen content (19.5 % to 23.5 % by volume), limits for carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and oil mist and particulate matter, dew point and maximum water content graded by nominal maximum supply pressure, and freedom from noticeable odour, all referred to standard conditions of 20 °C and 101.3 kPa.
Test methods are given for each requirement, with a normative annex on the determination of oil mist and particulate matter, followed by provisions for sampling and on-site testing.
It replaces GB/T 31975-2015 and is now a mandatory standard; the new edition changes the requirements for oxygen content, harmful substances and odour, adds requirements for dew point and water content, revises the test methods for carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, dew point and water content, and adds a test method for odour.

Foreword
This document is drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2020, Directives for standardization - Part 1: Rules for the structure and drafting of standardizing documents.
This document replaces GB/T 31975-2015, Technical requirements of compressed air for respiratory protection. In addition to structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes compared with GB/T 31975-2015 are as follows:
a) the technical requirements for oxygen content, content of harmful substances and odour have been changed (see 4.1, 4.2 and 4.4; Clause 4 of the 2015 edition);
b) technical requirements for dew point and water content have been added (see 4.3);
c) the test methods for the content of harmful substances (carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, dew point and water content) have been changed (see 5.2, 5.3 and 5.5; 5.2, 5.3 and 5.5 of the 2015 edition);
d) a test method for odour has been added (see 5.6).
