Terms used in the field of gas analysis defined by ISO /IEC Guide98-3 or ISO /IEC Guide99 are listed in Appendix A.

3.1

Homogeneity

The state in which all components (3.3) of the mixed gas are uniformly distributed in the space occupied by them.

3.2

Stability

Under the specified conditions, the composition of the mixed gas (3.5) is within the specified time range [maximum storage period (7.5) (see Appendix A)].

Attributes that are within the specified uncertainty limits.

3.3

Component

A chemical substance that exists in a simple substance or mixture in a specified physical state.

3.4

Content

The volume fraction (3.5.1.1), mass fraction (3.5.1.2), volume fraction of a substance (3.3) in pure gas or mixed gas

(3.5.1.3), quantity concentration (3.5.2.1), mass concentration (3.5.2.2), volume concentration (3.5.2.3).

Note. For more detailed information on this term, see ISO 14912 [7].

Example 1. The hydrogen content in the mixed gas of hydrogen and nitrogen is expressed as x (H2) = 0.1 in the form of the mass fraction of the substance.

Example 2. In the state of p = 101.325kPa and T = 288.15K, the content of sulfur dioxide in the air is expressed by the mass concentration (3.5.2.2) as.

gamma (SO2) = 1mg/m3.

3.5
