Scope

GB/T 30038-2026 is the English-translated version of 道路车辆电气电子设备防护等级（IP代码）.

Degrees of protection for electrical and electronic equipment on road vehicles, expressed through the IP code, are the subject of this recommended national standard. The IP code classifies how well an enclosure resists ingress of solid objects and water, which matters for components exposed to dust, splashing and washing on a vehicle. It adopts an international standard.

Automotive component suppliers, vehicle manufacturers, test laboratories and design engineers use such classifications when writing specifications and verifying products. It replaces GB/T 30038-2013, so drawings and supply agreements that cite the earlier edition should be updated.

As a GB/T document it is recommended rather than mandatory in China, but it is widely cited in customer requirements for vehicle electronics. It was issued on 30 July 2026 under the responsibility of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and takes effect on 1 February 2027.

GB/T 30038-2026 is a recommended national standard (GB/T) of the People's Republic of China, issued on 30 July 2026 by the State Administration for Market Regulation and the Standardization Administration of China, with effect from 1 February 2027.

This edition replaces GB/T 30038-2013.

The document adopts an international standard (ISO or IEC).
