Scope
QC/T 16-2016 is the English-translated version of 汽车用点火线圈.
QC/T 16-2016 covers ignition coils for motor vehicles, clause 1 applying it to the inductive energy storage type.
Clause 3 names the quantities a coil is judged by: the maximum secondary output voltage Usm, the primary resistance Rp, the interruption current Ipi, the Zener discharge duration tfzd and energy Ezd, and the secondary voltage rise time tsur, the time the output needs to climb from 1.5 kV to 15 kV.
Clause 4 wants a body free of cracks and terminals free of metal debris and, in general test conditions, Usm of at least 25 kV, Ipi no greater than 20 A, tfzd of at least 0.7 ms, Ezd no greater than 20 mJ and Rp within 2 ohm; it asks for protection IP5K4K, performance held after 96 h of salt spray, and electromagnetic immunity only of coils containing electronic modules.
Clause 5 gives the test methods, clause 6 the inspection rules. It replaces QC/T 16-1992, was issued on 5 April 2016 and has applied since 1 September 2016.
