Foreword

This standard replaces GB/T 13972-1992, General technical specifications for oceanographic hydrological observation instruments.

Compared with GB/T 13972-1992, the main changes in this standard are as follows:

- the reference document for terms and definitions has been changed to HY/T 008-1992, Terminology for oceanographic instruments, and 12 terms for instrument characteristics have been added (see Clause 3);

- the reference document for instrument classification and product type designation has been changed to HY/T 042 (see Clause 4);

- the technical requirements now focus on the performance characteristics of the product itself, mainly as follows:

1) the way the technical requirements of GB/T 13972-1992 are classified has been adjusted (see Clause 5);

2) the requirements on economy have been deleted and the process requirements have been reduced;

3) content on field trials has been added;

4) provisions on metrological characteristics have been added (see Clause 5);

- the content of "Operating characteristics and their expression" and "Verification methods" in the previous standard has been revised, as follows:

1) the clause "Operating characteristics and their expression" of GB/T 13972-1992 has been deleted, and its content is now specified in "Terms and definitions", "General technical requirements" and "Test methods" (see Clauses 3, 5 and 6);

2) "operating characteristics" has been changed to "metrological characteristics", and the individual items have been simplified (see Clauses 5 and 6);

3) technical requirements for accuracy and the method of evaluating it have been added (see 5.2.1 and 6.2.2);

4) "influence variation performance" has been changed to "operating influence" (see 6.2.10);

- the requirements for electrical safety and electromagnetic compatibility have been re-specified (see 5.3, 5.6, 6.3 and 6.6);

- the detailed steps of the reliability test method in GB/T 13972-1992 have been deleted, and GB/T 11463-1989, Reliability test for electronic measuring instruments, is referenced for the reliability requirements (see 5.5 and 6.5);

- technical requirements on "interfaces and communication", "data recording and display" and "operating software" have been added (see 5.8, 5.9 and 5.10);

- the inspection rules have been expanded and detailed; in particular, provisions on the occasions for inspection, sampling rules and acceptance criteria have been added to the type inspection (see Clause 7).

This standard was proposed by the State Oceanic Administration.

This standard is under the jurisdiction of the National Technical Committee on Marine Standardization of Standardization Administration of China (SAC/TC 283).
