Scope
GB/T 3620.2-2023 is the English-translated version of 钛及钛合金加工产品化学成分允许偏差.
GB/T 3620.2-2023 fixes how far the chemical composition found on a titanium or titanium alloy wrought product may differ from the composition declared for it.
The permissible variations cover plates, strips, foils, pipes, bars, wires, forgings, profiles and castings, and the document adds where the analytical specimen is taken, following GB/T 31981, and which analytical methods are used, GB/T 4698 (all parts) or YS/T 1262, with anything they do not cover settled between supplier and buyer.
It applies to the buyer's check analysis and to arbitration analysis, and not to the supplier's own analysis or to changes in hydrogen, nitrogen and oxygen content caused by the buyer reprocessing the product.
This edition adds the permissible variations for tungsten. It replaces GB/T 3620.2-2007, was issued on 6 August 2023 and has applied since 1 March 2024.

Foreword
This document was drafted in accordance with the rules provided in GB/T 1.1-2020 Directives for Standardization - Part 1: Rules for the Structure and Drafting of Standardizing Documents.
This document serves as a replacement of GB/T 3620.2-2007 Titanium and Titanium Alloys - Permissible Variations of Chemical Composition for Wrought Product Analysis. In comparison with GB/T 3620.2-2007, apart from structural adjustments and editorial modifications, the main technical changes are as follows.
a) The content of the Scope is modified (see Chapter 1; Chapter 1 of Version 2007);
b) The general principles of sampling are deleted (see 4.1 of Version 2007);
c) The description of the applicability of the permissible variations of chemical composition is added (see 4.1.2);
d) The permissible variations of the element W are added (see 4.1.3);
e) The permissible variations of the elements O, Al, Cr, Mo, Mn, Cu, B, Zr and Y are modified (see 4.1.3; 4.4.3 of Version 2007);
f) The requirements for sampling locations are modified (see 4.2; 4.2 of Version 2007);
g) The analysis method YS/T 1262 for chemical composition is added (see 4.3).
This document was firstly issued in 1983, firstly revised in 1994 and secondly revised in 2007. This is the third revision.
1 Scope
This document specifies the permissible variations of chemical composition for titanium and titanium alloy wrought product (plates, strips, foils, pipes, bars, wires, forgings, profiles and castings).
This document is applicable to the demand-side's check analysis and arbitration analysis of the chemical composition of the product.
This document does not apply to the supply-side's analysis of the chemical composition of the product, nor does it apply to the check analysis of changes in the content of impurity elements (such as hydrogen, nitrogen and oxygen) caused by the demand-side's reprocessing of the product.

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions are applicable to this document.
3.1 Check analysis
Chemical composition analysis conducted by the demand-side by taking samples from the processed products.
4 Technical Requirements
4.1 Permissible Variation of Chemical Composition
4.1.1 Unless otherwise specified in the product standard or order sheet, the permissible variation of chemical composition of titanium and titanium alloy wrought products shall comply with the stipulations of Table 1.
4.2 Sampling Method
The sampling method of the analytical specimens of the chemical composition of titanium and titanium alloy shall comply with the stipulations of GB/T 31981.
4.3 Analytical Method of Chemical Composition
4.3.1 The analytical method of the chemical composition of titanium and titanium alloy wrought products shall comply with GB/T 4698 (all parts) or YS/T 1262. The analytical methods for elements not included in GB/T 4698 (all parts) or YS/T 1262 shall be determined by the demand-side and the supply-side through negotiation.
4.3.2 The arbitration analysis of the chemical composition of titanium and titanium alloy wrought products shall comply with the analytical method specified in the product standard; when the arbitration analysis method is not specified in the product standard, it shall be determined by the demand-side and the supply-side through negotiation.
