Scope
GB/T 23247-2023 is the English-translated version of 自动剖面漂流浮标.
GB/T 23247-2023 covers the autonomous drifting profiler, the ocean buoy that sinks and rises on a set cycle, drifts at depth with the current, measures a profile of ocean parameters as it rises and sends the data by satellite from the surface.
It specifies the composition and classification, the technical requirements covering appearance and structure, function, performance, environmental adaptability, electromagnetic compatibility and data quality control, plus the test methods, inspection rules, signs, labels, accompanying documents, packaging, transport and storage.
Five normative annexes give the observation data file format, the detection methods for chlorophyll a, particle backscattering coefficient and downwelling irradiance, and the real-time data quality control.
It cites the GB/T 32065 environmental test series, JJF 1792, JJF 1793, JJG 763 and HY/T 096. It replaces GB/T 23247-2009, was issued on 23 May 2023 and has applied since 1 September 2023.

Foreword
This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for Standardization Work Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules for Standardization Documents" drafting.
This document replaces GB/T 23247-2009 "Self-sustained profiling circular detection drifting buoy", compared with GB/T 23247-2009, except Apart from structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows:
--- Changed the scope of application of the standard (see Chapter 1, Chapter 1 of the 2009 edition);
--- Added the terms and definitions of "circulation" and "data reception efficiency" (see Chapter 3);
--- Changed the composition and classification (see Chapter 4, Chapter 4 of the 2009 edition);
--- Increased functional requirements, biogeochemical sensor indicators (see Chapter 5);
--- Changed the working depth, the number of sections, the cycle period (time interval of cycle work), the working temperature and storage temperature in the environmental adaptability degree, etc. (see Chapter 5, Chapter 5 of the 2009 edition);
--- Changed part of the inspection rules (see Chapter 7, Chapter 7 of the 2009 edition);
---Changed part of the logo, labels and accompanying documents (see Chapter 8, Chapter 8 of the 2009 edition);
---Changed the content of packaging, transportation and storage (see Chapter 9, Chapter 8 of the 2009 edition);
---Changed the contents of Appendix A (see Appendix A, Appendix A of the 2009 edition);
--- Added Appendix B, Appendix C, Appendix D and Appendix E (see Appendix B, Appendix C, Appendix D and Appendix E).

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Automatic profile drifting buoy
Automatically sinks and floats regularly according to the set time interval, drifts with the current at the specified depth after sinking, and finally sinks to the maximum working depth. It is an ocean observation equipment that conducts profile measurement of ocean parameters during ascent, and transmits data and positioning through satellite system on the sea surface.
3.2 Cycle
According to the program setting, after the profiling buoy is put into the water, the sequence of "sinking-deep drifting-continuing sinking-floating and measuring-water surface […]
