Scope
GB/T 17775-2024 is the English-translated version of 旅游景区质量等级划分.
GB/T 17775-2024 is the standard behind the A-grade rating of Chinese tourist attractions, the scheme that awards a site from one to five A and which is displayed at the gate of essentially every managed attraction in China. The rating drives visitor numbers, ticket pricing and local investment, so the criteria are consequential and contested. The standard sets the grade divisions and the conditions for each, and then the evaluation itself: the assessment of the attraction's resources and their value, the quality of the services, the guiding and interpretation, the transport, parking and access, the visitor facilities including sanitation, which has been the most heavily reformed area, the safety management, the environmental quality and landscape protection, the management and staffing, and increasingly the digital services, booking and information provision. It also sets the procedure for applying, assessing, awarding and reviewing a grade, including the conditions under which a grade is downgraded or withdrawn. It took effect on 23 August 2024.
