Scope
GB/T 5585.1-2018 is the English-translated version of 电工用铜、铝及其合金母线 第1部分:铜和铜合金母线.
GB/T 5585.1-2018 is Part 1 of the Chinese standard for bus bars for electrical purposes, and covers copper and copper alloy bus bars.
It specifies the code and product designation by material type, cross-sectional shape and temper, and the technical requirements: cross-sectional shape, chemical composition, dimensions and deviations, corner and edge radii, cross-sectional area, tensile strength, elongation and hardness, the ban on joints and surface quality.
Tests are listed in a single table, with GB/T 3048.2 as the reference method for resistivity in case of dispute. It also covers delivery length and weight, acceptance rules with routine, sampling and type tests, and the product certificate, packaging, marking, transport and storage.
The alloys formerly called silver-copper are now named copper-silver. It replaces GB/T 5585.1-2005, was issued on 28 December 2018 and has applied since 1 July 2019.

Foreword
GB/T 5585 "Copper or aluminium and its alloy bus bars for electrical purposes" consists of two parts.
- Part 1: Copper and copper alloy bus bars;
- Part 2: Aluminium and aluminium alloy bus bars.
This Part is Part 1 of GB/T 5585.
This Part is drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This Part replaces GB/T 5585.1-2005 "Copper or aluminium and its alloy bus bars for electrical purposes - Part 1: Copper and copper alloy bus bars".
Compared with GB/T 5585.1-2005, the main technical changes are as follows.
- MODIFY the name of copper alloy bus bars, changing all the "silver-copper alloys" to "copper-silver alloys" (see 4.1 of this Part, 3.2 and 4.3 of 2005 edition);
- SPECIFY the code and product representation method (see 4.1 and 4.2 of this Part, 3.2 and 3.3 of 2005 edition);
- MODIFY the chemical composition of copper alloy bus bars (see Table 2 in 5.3 of this Part, Table 1 in 4.3 of 2005 edition);
- ADD a note to "Table 3 -- Specifications of copper and copper alloy bus bars" (see Table 3 of this Part, Table 2 of 2005 edition);
- SPECIFY the expression of test classification (see 8.1 of this Part, 7.1 of 2005 edition);
- MODIFY the expression of marking (see 9.3 of this Part, 8.3 of 2005 edition).
1 Scope
This Part of GB/T 5585 specifies the code and product representation method, technical requirements, tests, delivery length and weight, acceptance rules, product certificate and packaging, marking, transportation and storage of copper and copper alloy bus bars for electrical purposes.
This Part applies to copper and copper alloy bus bars (also known as copper and copper alloy bars) for electrical purposes.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purpose this document, the terms and definitions defined in GB/T 2900.10 and following apply.
3.1 Dimensions
Dimensions of bus bars, which are indicated by the nominal dimensions a × b of the cross-sectional thickness and width of bus bars.
3.2 Straightness
Any plane of the bus bar is statically placed on a reference plane, and it is the maximum vertical distance from any point on the plane to the reference plane.
4 Code and product representation method
4.1 Code
The code classification of copper and copper alloy bus bars includes material type code, cross-sectional shape code and state code, as shown in Table 1.
4.2 Product representation method
4.2.1 The composition and order of the product model are the material type code, cross-sectional shape code and state code in turn.
4.2.2 The product is represented by the model, specification and standard number.
5 Technical requirements
5.1 Cross-sectional shape of copper and copper alloy bus bars
The cross-sectional shape of bus bars is shown in Figure 1. The arc of the cross-section of rounded-edge bus bars shall be completely symmetrical with respect to the product axis, and the corner of the arc shall be transitioned.
