This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for standardization work Part 1: Structure and drafting rules for standardization documents" Drafting.

This document replaces GB/T 27534.1-2011 "Technical Specifications for Survey of Livestock and Poultry Genetic Resources Part 1: General Principles" and GB/T 27534.1- Compared with 2011, in addition to structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows.

a) Deleted “livestock and poultry genetic resources”, “livestock and poultry genetic resources protection”, “breeds”, “dual-purpose breeds”, “central production areas”, “seed farms”, and “protected areas” 9 terms and definitions of “gene bank” and “pedigree” (see 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4, 2.5, 2.6, 2.7, 2.8, 2.11 of the 2011 edition);

b) Added the term and definition of "origin" (see 3.1);

c) The definitions of the terms "in situ conservation" and "ex situ conservation" have been changed (see 3.2, 3.3, 2.9, 2.10 of the 2011 edition);

d) The survey subjects have been changed (see Chapter 4, Chapter 3 of the 2011 edition);

e) The survey content and survey methods have been changed (see Chapter 6, Chapter 7, and Chapter 5 of the 2011 edition);

f) Records and archives management has been modified (see Chapter 8, Chapter 7 of the 2011 edition);

g) Added a summary table of livestock and poultry genetic resources (see Appendix A);

h) The determination of endangered status of livestock and poultry breeds has been deleted (see Appendix A of the 2011 edition);

i) The requirements for image data collection have been changed (see Appendix B, Appendix B of the 2011 edition).

Introduction

Livestock and poultry genetic resources are important strategic resources for maintaining national ecological security and agricultural security, and are the material basis for the high-quality development of animal husbandry.

Conducting livestock and poultry genetic resource surveys is a statutory duty stipulated in the Animal Husbandry Law of the People’s Republic of China and is an important task in approving new livestock and poultry breeds (supporting lines) and identifying The basic requirements for identifying new genetic resources, formulating livestock and poultry genetic resource protection and utilization plans and livestock and poultry genetic resource protection lists, and engaging in breeding livestock and poultry production and management, etc.

GB/T 27534 "Technical Specifications for Livestock and Poultry Genetic Resources Survey" aims to standardize and guide the investigation of livestock and poultry genetic resources. It consists of eleven parts.

— Part 1: General Principles. The purpose is to provide general survey rules for livestock and poultry genetic resources surveys.

— Part 2: Pig. The purpose is to standardize the survey content and methods of pig genetic resources.

— Part 3: Cattle. The purpose is to standardize the survey content and methods of cattle genetic resources.

— Part 4: Sheep. The purpose is to standardize the survey content and methods of sheep genetic resources.

— Part 5: Goats. The purpose is to standardize the survey content and methods of goat genetic resources.

— Part 6: Horses and donkeys. The purpose is to standardize the survey content and methods of horse and donkey genetic resources.

— Part 7: Camels and alpacas. The purpose is to standardize the survey content and methods of camel and alpaca genetic resources.

— Part 8: Rabbit. The purpose is to standardize the survey content and methods of rabbit genetic resources.

1 Scope

This document specifies the objects, methods, contents, and record and archive management requirements of livestock and poultry genetic resources surveys, and describes the survey methods.
