Compared with GB 17790-2008, except for the structural... Aside from structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows:

---The scope has removed "personal and property safety, surrounding environment, realization of product pre-defined functions, and" (see Chapter 1 of the.2008 edition);

---The definitions of "residential central air conditioner" and "mounting bracket" have been revised (see 3.1, 3.4, and

1 Scope

GB/T 17790-2025 is the Chinese national standard on installation specifications for household and similar air-conditioner, in the field of construction materials and building. The /T suffix marks it as a recommended standard: it is not compulsory by itself, but it becomes binding as soon as a contract, a tender or a customer specification calls it up - which in practice is how most foreign buyers meet it. It was issued on 31 October 2025 by the State Administration for Market Regulation; Standardization Administration of China, and has been in force since 1 May 2026. This document specifies the procedures for installation of household and similar-purpose air conditioners (hereinafter referred to as "air conditioners") by users after the product leaves the factory. Requirements for air conditioner installation accessories, air conditioner installation requirements, air conditioner installation preparation and operation, air conditioner inspection and acceptance, etc. This document applies to the installation of air conditioners for residential and similar purposes that directly cool or heat indoor air. The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1 Household central air conditioner Primarily used in residential and similar applications, it consists of one outdoor unit connected to one or more indoor units via refrigerant piping, enabling... Equipment in which all or some indoor units operate simultaneously.

Note. This does not include wall-mounted and floor-standing air conditioners.

3.2 Professional installers will fix the air conditioner in a suitable location and proceed with the installation based on the user's actual environmental conditions and reasonable installation requirements. Perform proper assembly, connection, and debugging to achieve the intended functionality and integrity of the air conditioner.
